We support clients by minimizing their tax burden and maximizing their business and financial goals.\nAbout the Role\nThe Tax Senior Manager oversees comprehensive tax compliance and review processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all levels of tax returns and workpapers. They play a pivotal role in tax planning activities to optimize client outcomes, manage client relationships, and serve as a mentor to team members. Also, they lead strategic initiatives within the firm, championing process improvements, fostering a positive work environment, and driving business development efforts to support the firm's growth.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nThe essential duties & responsibilities of the Tax Senior Manager role are outlined below in correlation with Dean Dorton’s performance management impact areas.\nTechnical\nConduct review of tax returns and workpapers, ensuring accuracy and compliance for projects you manage and/or sign. \nDevelop and communicate review comments, suggestions, and tax return changes to tax preparers that meet tax compliance guidelines.\nEngage in tax planning activities, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes for clients. \nInterface with taxing authorities and assist in gathering information for federal, state, and local tax audits, as needed. \nExpand expertise in identified specialties, including industry and tax return types. Be an internal resource for team members within identified specialty, answering questions and providing support. \nStay up to date on tax laws, regulations, and industry trends, sharing relevant information and insights with internal team members and external clients. \nEngage in research and technical discussions.\nServe as a trusted advisor to clients, offering proactive solutions to address their tax concerns and achieve their financial goals.\nManage client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and addressing client inquiries and concerns. Maintain an advisory and consultative relationship with clients.\nBehavioral\nProactively address and anticipate client needs and advocate for firm services (including cross-selling), instilling confidence and credibility. \n Learn and understand the business and industry of clients. \nCommunicate effectively, setting clear expectations for team members and clients. \nUtilize strong relationship management skills to build rapport with internal team members and external stakeholders. \nCollaborate with other service groups within the firm to provide comprehensive solutions to clients. \nMeet productivity goals.\nMeet internal and client deadlines.\nTrain, develop, and mentor staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment. This includes providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for growth and training.\nNon-Charge\nBegin to think strategically about functions of the firm including client management, internal processes and procedures, and future growth opportunities.\nEvaluate and implement internal process and procedure improvements.\nManage firm administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing, and new client proposals.\nParticipate in firm-sponsored events and activities. \nParticipate in team and firm non-charge activities of interest, such as: \n Recruiting activities, including interviewing, evaluating candidates, and participating in hiring decisions. \nDeveloping internal processes, procedures, and guidelines. \n Developing training materials and leading training sessions. \nLeading an internal committee or initiative. \nServing as a Career Advisor to tax team members, monitoring team member performance, providing feedback, and facilitating growth opportunities. \nSpearheading business development efforts, including attending industry events, networking with potential clients, and presenting technical topics. \nRequirements\nExperience & Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, business, or related field. \nMinimum of seven years of experience in a tax or tax-related technical role, including at least two years of experience as a tax manager.
