This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of tailings infrastructure, managing environmental risks, and supporting sustainable mining practices.\n\nKey Job Responsibilities\n\nCollaborates with the Engineer of Record (EoR) to ensure safe TSF design, construction, and closure of facilities.\n\nCommunicates TSF performance and risks to senior management and stakeholders\n\nConducts relevant risk assessments and supports development of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and Recovery Plans.\n\nConducts water balance modelling and ensures alignment with operational needs.\n\nCoordinates with mine operations, processing, environment, and community teams for safe upkeep of facilities.\n\nDevelops and maintains the Operations, Maintenance, and Surveillance (OMS) Manual.\n\nEnsures compliance with tailings deposition and water management system operations.\n\nEstablishes and maintains a Change Management System for TSF management.\n\nIdentify the scope of work and budget requirements for all aspects of tailings management, including the EoR\n\nImplement measures to remedy variances from performance objectives or criteria.\n\nImplements tailings deposition plans and supernatant pool management strategies.\n\nManages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters.\n\nMonitors TSF performance through inspections, instrumentation, and data analysis\n\nIntegrates TSF expansion plans into Life of Mine (LoM) budgets and schedules.\n\nCoordinates the implementation of departmental talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) by executing training and development plans.\n\nEstablishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives.\n\nIdentifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance.\n\nIdentifies and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements.\n\nImplements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance\n\nImplements the Tailings Management System (TMS).\n\nInitiates, monitors and controls short term sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results.\n\nManages subordinates’ key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary.\n\nOther Job Responsibilities\n\nManages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental programme in area of responsibility\n\nEducation\nBachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical or Equivalent\n\nExperience\nEight (8) years post qualification experience, two (2) years of which should have been at supervisory level\n\nTechnical Competencies\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving
