The specialist will develop intuitive layouts, drill-through experiences, and paginated reports where supported by the approved environment.\nThe BI Developer / Visualization Specialist will collaborate with the Power BI/Analytics Engineering Lead, business analysts, data engineers, testers, and Government users to demonstrate reporting capabilities, incorporate feedback, and improve usability.\nThis position is remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe BI Developer / Visualization Specialist will:\nBuild and maintain Power BI dashboards, operational reports, self-service templates, and ad hoc visualizations. \nTranslate reporting requirements, business rules, KPIs, and acceptance criteria into usable reporting products. \nUse SQL and Power Query to retrieve, prepare, transform, and validate reporting data. \nDevelop DAX measures and calculations consistent with approved definitions and shared semantic models. \nCreate accessible layouts with clear navigation, meaningful labels, readable visuals, and appropriate use of color. \nDevelop drill-through experiences, filters, tooltips, and other interactions that help users explore results. \nDevelop paginated reports where supported by the approved hosting configuration and reporting tools. \nCreate reusable templates and visual patterns that follow program reporting standards. \nValidate calculations, totals, filters, relationships, and displayed results against authoritative data and expected outcomes. \nTest report usability, accessibility, performance, and data refresh behavior. \nImplement approved report-level access requirements and coordinate access issues with the technical lead. \nConduct user demonstrations and gather feedback on reporting functionality, layout, and interpretation. \nIncorporate approved user feedback and resolve assigned reporting defects. \nSupport user acceptance testing and maintain evidence of corrections and retest results. \nCoordinate with data engineering and database teams to investigate data discrepancies and source changes. \nFollow approved version control, review, deployment, and change-management procedures. \nMaintain report documentation, calculation definitions, data mappings, and user guidance. \nHelp users understand report capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use of self-service templates. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nThe following must-have qualifications are drawn from the supplied position requirements:\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nMinimum of six years of relevant professional experience. \nBachelor’s degree in information systems, data analytics, computer science, or a related field, or a permitted equivalent. \nExperience with Power BI, SQL, Power Query, and DAX. \nExperience developing accessible dashboards. \nExperience developing operational reports. \nAbility to build self-service reporting templates and ad hoc visualizations. \nAbility to develop drill-through experiences and paginated reports where supported. \nAbility to conduct user demonstrations and incorporate feedback into reporting products. \nPreferred Qualifications\nThe following qualifications are preferred but are not required:\nMicrosoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300). \nExperience supporting federal or Department of Defense reporting needs. \nExperience working with shared semantic models, standardized measures, and enterprise reporting standards. \nExperience with Power BI Report Builder or comparable paginated reporting tools. \nFamiliarity with data warehouses, dimensional models, data lineage, and metadata. \nExperience testing report accessibility, usability, calculations, and performance. \nFamiliarity with approved gateways, refresh schedules, and reporting access controls. \nExperience with version control, controlled deployment, and reporting change management. \nStrong visual communication, analytical troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills. \nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
