These positions will implement approved configurations, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and support secure and reliable enterprise operations.\nThe successful candidates will work with the Cloud / System Engineering Lead, network teams, application teams, cybersecurity personnel, service-management teams, Government stakeholders, and vendors to maintain resilient and supportable enterprise services.\nThese positions are remote, with a preference for candidates located in the Chicago area. After-hours work may be required during outages, deployments, upgrades, maintenance windows, and component-refresh activities.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Cloud / System Engineer will:\nInstall, configure, administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise servers and supporting infrastructure. \nSupport Windows Server, Linux, or other approved enterprise operating systems. \nConfigure and maintain physical and virtual servers, operating-system services, enterprise applications, and infrastructure appliances. \nAdminister and support enterprise virtualization platforms, hypervisors, management servers, clusters, hosts, and virtual machines. \nMonitor server and virtualization availability, performance, utilization, capacity, health, and operational status. \nDiagnose and resolve operating-system, server, virtualization, appliance, storage, cloud-connectivity, and performance issues. \nSupport integration of infrastructure appliances with network, storage, virtualization, identity, monitoring, logging, backup, and security services. \nSupport cloud operations and integration among cloud, on-premises, continuity, and remote environments. \nAssist with configuration and troubleshooting of Virtual Private Clouds, DNS, load balancers, API connectivity, certificates, and related cloud services. \nImplement approved infrastructure configurations, technical changes, security updates, and operational procedures. \nApply operating-system updates, vendor patches, firmware upgrades, security patches, and approved configuration changes. \nTest updates and configuration changes before implementation in production environments when required. \nSupport server, virtualization, software, appliance, and infrastructure-component refreshes. \nStage, install, configure, migrate, test, validate, and document replacement components. \nSupport lifecycle planning, inventory validation, configuration management, equipment refresh, and disposition activities. \nMaintain accurate system, asset, configuration, warranty, licensing, and lifecycle records. \nSupport workload migrations, platform upgrades, hardware replacements, and infrastructure-modernization initiatives. \nDevelop or execute approved implementation plans, migration procedures, test steps, validation criteria, rollback procedures, and outage contingencies. \nParticipate in Outage Response Team activities involving systems, cloud services, virtualization platforms, infrastructure appliances, or supporting components. \nSupport incident diagnosis, mitigation, workarounds, recovery actions, restoration, and service validation. \nGather logs, configuration details, monitoring data, timelines, and technical evidence for incident investigation and root-cause analysis. \nEscalate complex technical issues to senior engineers, vendors, cloud providers, and other support organizations. \nTrack restoration activities, technical dependencies, assigned actions, and corrective measures through completion. \nConfigure and support backup, restoration, replication, high-availability, fault-tolerance, disaster-recovery, and continuity capabilities. \nConduct backup and recovery testing to verify that mission-critical systems and data can be restored. \nSupport VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, Site Recovery Manager, NSX, or comparable virtualization technologies. \nSupport infrastructure automation and configuration-management activities using approved tools and scripts. \nAssist with Infrastructure as Code implementations using Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, or comparable technologies. \nConfigure systems and appliances in accordance with applicable DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides and approved security baselines. \nSupport remediation of IAVAs, CND Directives, vulnerabilities, POA&M items, and security-control deficiencies. \nCollect and maintain evidence supporting RMF, ATO, cybersecurity, audit, and inspection activities. \nFollow approved incident, problem, change, configuration, release, availability, and service-continuity processes. \nMaintain system diagrams, configuration records, build documents, operational procedures, field guides, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting documentation. \nIdentify recurring issues, capacity constraints, obsolete components, configuration risks, and modernization opportunities. \nRecommend improvements that increase system availability, automation, security, scalability, supportability, and operational efficiency. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. \nMinimum of 6 years of relevant cloud engineering, systems engineering, systems administration, virtualization, or enterprise infrastructure experience. \nCurrent professional certification relevant to systems, cloud, operating systems, virtualization, or enterprise infrastructure engineering. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting enterprise systems or cloud infrastructure in a federal or Department of Defense environment. \nExperience administering Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, or comparable enterprise operating systems. \nExperience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, Site Recovery Manager, NSX, VMware Cloud Foundation, or comparable virtualization technologies. \nExperience supporting Amazon Web Services, AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government, or another Government-authorized cloud environment. \nExperience configuring or troubleshooting VPCs, DNS, load balancers, APIs, digital certificates, compute, storage, monitoring, and cloud connectivity. \nExperience integrating infrastructure appliances with enterprise network, storage, virtualization, identity, monitoring, logging, backup, and security services. \nExperience performing server, virtualization, appliance, software, and infrastructure-component refreshes. \nExperience supporting system migrations, platform upgrades, hardware replacements, and modernization activities. \nExperience supporting outages, service restoration, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action tracking. \nExperience with high availability, fault tolerance, backups, restoration, replication, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations. \nExperience using Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, Bash, or comparable automation and Infrastructure as Code technologies. \nExperience applying DISA STIGs and supporting DoD RMF, ATO, IAVA, CND Directive, vulnerability-remediation, and POA&M requirements. \nExperience maintaining system diagrams, configuration records, build documents, implementation plans, test results, and standard operating procedures. \nCertifications such as AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent credentials. \nITIL Foundation or higher certification. \nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, configuration-management, and team-collaboration skills. \nAbility to support after-hours outages, deployments, maintenance windows, upgrades, migrations, and component-refresh activities when
