This role will support the design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, refresh, and restoration of cloud and enterprise infrastructure components.\nThe successful candidate will work with infrastructure, network, application, cybersecurity, service-management, Government, and vendor teams to deliver secure, resilient, scalable, and supportable cloud services.\nThis position is remote, with a preference for candidates located in the Chicago area. After-hours availability may be required during outages, maintenance windows, deployments, migrations, and infrastructure-refresh activities.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Cloud / System Engineering Lead will:\nLead engineering support for cloud operations, enterprise systems, hybrid-cloud services, and associated infrastructure. \nArchitect, design, implement, maintain, and optimize secure cloud solutions aligned with USMEPCOM operational and mission requirements. \nConfigure, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot Virtual Private Clouds, subnets, routing, security groups, network access controls, and cloud connectivity. \nEngineer and maintain cloud-based Domain Name System services and integrations with enterprise DNS environments. \nConfigure, monitor, and troubleshoot elastic load balancers and associated health checks, listener rules, certificates, and backend services. \nSupport API connectivity, gateways, integrations, endpoints, authentication, monitoring, and troubleshooting. \nImplement, renew, monitor, and troubleshoot digital certificates used by cloud, application, network, and enterprise services. \nSupport secure connectivity among cloud, on-premises, DISA-hosted, continuity, and remote environments. \nDevelop and implement high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures. \nMonitor cloud availability, performance, capacity, utilization, service health, cost, and operational risk. \nIdentify and resolve cloud, network, API, DNS, load-balancing, certificate, compute, storage, and connectivity issues. \nProvide senior technical support during cloud and enterprise-system outages. \nParticipate in Outage Response Team activities and coordinate technical diagnosis, mitigation, workarounds, restoration, and service validation. \nCoordinate with network, systems, application, database, storage, cybersecurity, vendor, and Government teams during service restoration. \nProvide root-cause-analysis input and recommend corrective and preventive actions following incidents. \nSupport cloud and systems installations, upgrades, migrations, component refreshes, lifecycle replacements, and modernization activities. \nDevelop implementation plans, migration procedures, maintenance plans, test steps, validation criteria, rollback procedures, and outage contingencies. \nLead technical preparation and execution for approved infrastructure changes and deployment activities. \nSupport server, storage, virtualization, network appliance, software, and cloud-service lifecycle management. \nEnsure cloud and system components are accurately recorded in applicable asset, configuration, and lifecycle repositories. \nSupport equipment and software refresh, disposition, inventory-validation, and documentation activities. \nDevelop automation for cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployment, monitoring, and operational maintenance. \nUse Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, or equivalent technologies. \nSupport integration of cloud capabilities with software-defined data-center, VMware, continuity-of-operations, and on-premises environments. \nSupport workload mobility, enterprise service orchestration, automated recovery, and hybrid-cloud operations. \nDesign and implement backup, restoration, disaster-recovery, high-availability, and service-continuity capabilities. \nEvaluate technical requirements, establish engineering priorities, develop schedules, estimate costs, and document recommended solutions. \nPrepare high-level concepts of operations, architecture documents, engineering designs, configuration standards, and service-design packages. \nAssess infrastructure changes for security, availability, performance, supportability, interoperability, and mission impact. \nSupport implementation of applicable DISA STIGs, DoD security controls, IAVAs, CND Directives, and RMF requirements. \nCoordinate technical escalation and resolution with AWS, DISA, software vendors, service providers, and other third parties. \nMaintain cloud architecture diagrams, system configurations, interface documentation, certificate inventories, API records, operational procedures, field guides, and standard operating procedures. \nProvide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to cloud engineers, systems engineers, administrators, and support personnel. \nRecommend improvements that increase automation, resilience, scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and cost efficiency. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. \nMinimum of 8 years of relevant cloud engineering, systems engineering, systems architecture, infrastructure engineering, or enterprise IT experience. \nCurrent AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer certification. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience leading cloud or systems-engineering activities in a federal or Department of Defense environment. \nAdvanced experience designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting Amazon Web Services environments. \nExperience with AWS GovCloud or other Government-authorized cloud environments. \nExperience with Amazon VPC, Route 53, Elastic Load Balancing, API Gateway, AWS Certificate Manager, compute, storage, monitoring, and security services. \nExperience designing secure hybrid connectivity among cloud, on-premises, DISA, continuity, and remote environments. \nExperience developing highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures. \nExperience supporting cloud and enterprise-system outages, service restoration, incident response, and root-cause analysis. \nExperience planning and executing cloud migrations, infrastructure refreshes, component upgrades, and system-modernization activities. \nExperience with Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, or comparable Infrastructure as Code and configuration-management technologies. \nExperience developing automation scripts and operational tooling using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent technologies. \nExperience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, Site Recovery Manager, VMware Cloud Foundation, or comparable virtualization and software-defined data-center technologies. \nExperience with backup, restoration, disaster recovery, high availability, fault tolerance, and continuity-of-operations solutions. \nExperience engineering DNS, load balancing, API connectivity, certificates, identity integration, and network-security controls. \nKnowledge of DISA STIGs, DoD RMF, NIST security controls, IAVA requirements, CND Directives, and ATO support. \nExperience with cloud monitoring, logging, performance management, observability, cost optimization, and capacity planning. \nExperience developing architecture diagrams, engineering designs, concepts of operations, service-design packages, implementation plans, and standard operating procedures. \nAdditional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified Security, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Azure Administrator, VMware certification, or equivalent credentials. \nITIL Foundation or higher certification. \nStrong technical leadership, architecture, troubleshooting, automation, documentation, vendor-management, and stakeholder-communication skills. \nAbility to coordinate multiple engineering,
