This junior role helps ensure that application components, interfaces, infrastructure dependencies, documentation, and configuration records remain accurate, current, and traceable.\nThe Configuration Support Specialist works under the direction of configuration and release leadership and coordinates with software teams, testers, cybersecurity personnel, infrastructure teams, service-management personnel, operations staff, and Government stakeholders. The position maintains configuration evidence, assists with discrepancy resolution, and supports audits, reviews, releases, and operational handovers.\nThis position is remote, with Chicago-area Configuration Support Specialist will:\nSupport the establishment and maintenance of approved enterprise configuration baselines. \nMaintain configuration-item records, versions, relationships, dependencies, ownership information, and status data. \nEnter, update, and validate configuration information in the approved configuration management database (CMDB). \nSupport reconciliation among CMDB records, source repositories, deployment records, inventories, and approved baselines. \nCollect and organize CMDB reconciliation evidence. \nIdentify missing, incomplete, outdated, or inconsistent configuration records and route discrepancies for resolution. \nTrack discrepancy corrections and retain supporting evidence of completed updates. \nCreate, update, and maintain change records in approved tools and repositories. \nEnsure change records contain required descriptions, approvals, implementation details, affected configuration items, and completion evidence. \nSupport traceability from approved changes to implementation, validation, and baseline updates. \nPrepare and maintain source and version descriptions for software and supporting components. \nAssist with configuration summaries identifying current baselines, approved versions, changes, discrepancies, and open actions. \nMaintain configuration logs, change logs, version histories, action trackers, and evidence repositories. \nCollect and organize build documentation, installation procedures, release information, known-defect lists, and other configuration artifacts. \nVerify that configuration documents use approved templates, naming conventions, version numbers, and repositories. \nSupport configuration-control and change-control reviews by preparing documentation and status information. \nAssist with configuration audits, release-readiness reviews, assessments, inspections, and evidence requests. \nRecord meeting decisions, approvals, action items, and required configuration updates. \nSupport release-package preparation and confirm that required configuration artifacts are present and correctly versioned. \nAssist with operational handover by organizing configuration information, procedures, known issues, contacts, and supporting documentation. \nCoordinate with developers, testers, cybersecurity personnel, infrastructure teams, and operations personnel to obtain missing or corrected information. \nGenerate standard CMDB, change, baseline, and configuration-status reports. \nMaintain accurate records in accordance with applicable federal, DoD, program, records-management, and configuration-management requirements. \nProtect sensitive program information and follow approved access, handling, and repository procedures. \nSupport continuous improvement of configuration templates, checklists, standard operating procedures, and evidence-management practices. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nCandidates must possess all the following:\nAn active Secret clearance or higher. \nA bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent permitted by the applicable labor category. \nAt least two years of relevant professional experience. \nExperience supporting configuration baselines or configuration-item records. \nExperience creating, updating, tracking, or maintaining change records. \nExperience supporting CMDB updates, reconciliation, validation, or evidence collection. \nExperience preparing or maintaining version descriptions and configuration summaries. \nAbility to maintain accurate technical records, logs, trackers, and supporting evidence. \nAbility to identify incomplete or inconsistent configuration information and coordinate corrections. \nAbility to follow established configuration-management processes, standard operating procedures, templates, and approval workflows. \nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. \nStrong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and follow-through. \nAbility to collaborate effectively with configuration managers, developers, testers, infrastructure personnel, operations teams, and Government stakeholders. \nPreferred Qualifications\nThe following qualifications are preferred:\nITIL 4 Foundation or another relevant IT service-management certification. \nAn entry-level configuration-management certification or formal configuration-management training. \nExperience supporting federal or Department of Defense information-technology programs. \nExperience with ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Helix, Jira Service Management, or a comparable configuration-management platform. \nExperience using SharePoint, Confluence, or another document and evidence repository. \nExperience with source-code or artifact-management platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, Nexus, or comparable tools. \nFamiliarity with software configuration items, infrastructure configuration items, interfaces, dependencies, and application releases. \nFamiliarity with change-control boards, change-advisory boards, configuration audits, or release-readiness reviews. \nFamiliarity with Agile, DevSecOps, release-management, and secure software-development environments. \nExperience supporting audits, assessments, inspections, or formal evidence requests.
