The developer will translate approved requirements into maintainable data structures, transformations, and reporting products while supporting accuracy, consistency, performance, and usability.\nThe Senior Data and BI Developer will collaborate with data engineers, database administrators, governance personnel, business analysts, BI specialists, testers, and Government stakeholders throughout development, validation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.\nThis position is remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Senior Data and BI Developer will:\nDesign, build, and maintain data models supporting warehouse, analytical, and reporting requirements. \nDevelop and maintain metadata, data definitions, mappings, and transformation documentation. \nBuild and optimize ETL processes that integrate data from approved sources. \nDevelop warehouse tables, views, relationships, and other components supporting reliable analysis. \nTranslate mission requirements and business rules into data transformations, calculations, and reporting logic. \nBuild dashboards, operational reports, analytical products, and visualizations. \nDevelop reusable reporting components and support approved self-service reporting capabilities. \nValidate source-to-target mappings, record counts, totals, calculations, and reporting outputs. \nMaintain consistency between warehouse structures, analytical models, and published reports. \nOptimize data processing, queries, models, refresh behavior, and report performance. \nInvestigate and resolve issues involving data transformations, warehouse components, calculations, and visualizations. \nCoordinate schema and source-system changes with affected technical teams. \nMaintain lineage and traceability between source data, transformations, models, and reporting products. \nImplement approved access requirements and coordinate security-related changes with responsible personnel. \nSupport automated testing, regression checks, defect resolution, and user acceptance testing. \nConduct demonstrations and incorporate approved stakeholder feedback. \nFollow established version control, review, deployment, and change-management procedures. \nMaintain technical specifications, test evidence, deployment instructions, and operational documentation. \nSupport operational handoffs, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement of data and BI solutions. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nThe following must-have qualifications are drawn from the supplied position requirements:\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nMinimum of eight years of relevant professional experience. \nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, or a related field, or a permitted equivalent. \nExperience developing data models. \nExperience developing ETL processes. \nExperience developing data warehouse components. \nExperience developing dashboards and reports. \nAbility to design, build, and maintain metadata and visualizations supporting reliable analysis and actionable insights. \nApplicable DoD 8570 certification for the assigned duties. \nPreferred Qualifications\nThe following qualifications are preferred but are not required:\nMicrosoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or a relevant data engineering certification. \nExperience with Power BI, Power Query, DAX, and SQL. \nExperience supporting federal or Department of Defense data and reporting environments. \nExperience with dimensional modeling, shared semantic models, and reusable analytical measures. \nFamiliarity with SSIS or comparable ETL/ELT platforms. \nExperience with data governance, metadata management, lineage, and authoritative-source definitions. \nExperience developing accessible dashboards and self-service reporting products. \nExperience implementing automated reconciliation, data-quality, and regression checks. \nFamiliarity with cloud data platforms, version control, and controlled deployment processes. \nStrong analytical troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills. \nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
