The Database Administrators will maintain database health, security, performance, and recoverability while supporting approved schema changes and maintaining accurate operational documentation.\nThe successful candidates will collaborate with database architects, data engineers, application teams, infrastructure personnel, cybersecurity specialists, and Government stakeholders to sustain reliable database services and resolve operational issues.\nThese positions are remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Senior Database Administrators will:\nPerform daily monitoring and administration of Microsoft SQL Server environments. \nMonitor database availability, performance, capacity, storage utilization, job execution, and system alerts. \nExecute scheduled maintenance, integrity checks, indexing, statistics updates, and other approved database maintenance activities. \nPlan and implement approved database patches and updates, including pre-change checks, validation, and rollback preparation. \nAdminister database accounts, roles, permissions, and service access in accordance with approved access requests. \nReview access configurations and support periodic access validation. \nExecute and monitor database backups, investigate failures, and maintain backup records. \nPerform database restores and recovery testing to verify recoverability. \nSupport outage restoration and database recovery in coordination with architecture, infrastructure, application, and operations teams. \nTroubleshoot database connectivity, job failures, blocking, resource contention, integrity issues, and performance degradation. \nTune queries, indexes, configurations, and maintenance processes within approved technical standards. \nSupport database and warehouse operations, including scheduled loads, data refreshes, and integration dependencies. \nImplement approved schema changes, database objects, and configuration updates. \nCoordinate changes with application, data engineering, analytics, and testing teams. \nValidate database health and dependent services following maintenance, patches, schema changes, or restoration. \nSupport database security monitoring and remediation of assigned findings. \nMaintain operational logs, incident records, change documentation, configuration records, and maintenance procedures. \nUpdate backup, recovery, troubleshooting, and administration runbooks. \nEscalate complex architectural, availability, security, or performance issues to the Database Architect and appropriate technical leads. \nSupport operational handoffs, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement of database administration practices. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nThe following must-have qualifications are drawn from the supplied position requirements:\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nMinimum of eight years of relevant professional experience. \nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field, or a permitted equivalent. \nExperience with Microsoft SQL Server administration. \nExperience performing database patching. \nExperience administering database access controls. \nExperience with database performance tuning. \nExperience performing database backup and recovery. \nAbility to perform daily database monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting. \nAbility to support warehouse operations, approved schema changes, and database documentation. \nCompTIA Security+ CE or another approved IAT Level II certification. \nPreferred Qualifications\nThe following qualifications are preferred but are not required:\nRelevant database platform certification. \nExperience supporting federal or Department of Defense database environments. \nExperience with SQL Server Agent, Transact-SQL, and database administration scripting. \nExperience supporting high-availability configurations, replication, or failover operations. \nExperience supporting data warehouses, ETL/ELT jobs, and scheduled data integrations. \nFamiliarity with database auditing, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and configuration hardening. \nExperience automating monitoring, maintenance, backup validation, or administrative tasks. \nExperience supporting database migrations, upgrades, refreshes, and recovery exercises. \nFamiliarity with cloud-hosted or hybrid database environments. \nStrong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-team coordination skills. \nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
