The engineer will use SQL and Python to transform data, support API integrations, perform reconciliation checks, manage schema changes, maintain lineage, and troubleshoot pipeline issues.\nThe Data/ETL Engineer will work with senior engineers, database administrators, data governance personnel, BI developers, AI/ML teams, and testers to deliver accurate, traceable, and maintainable data for mission analysis and reporting.\nThis position is remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Journeyman Data/ETL Engineer will:\nDevelop, maintain, and troubleshoot ETL workflows using SSIS and approved integration tools. \nImplement approved integrations between source systems, APIs, databases, and analytical or reporting environments. \nWrite and maintain SQL transformations, queries, and supporting database routines. \nUse Python to automate data processing, validation, integration, and routine pipeline activities. \nImplement raw, standardized, and curated data layers using approved designs and transformation rules. \nDevelop and maintain source-to-target mappings, field mappings, and identifier mappings. \nBuild reconciliation checks to verify record counts, totals, completeness, and transformation accuracy. \nSupport incremental loading, processing checkpoints, retries, and controlled reprocessing. \nImplement approved schema changes and identify effects on dependent workflows and datasets. \nMaintain data lineage, pipeline documentation, configuration records, and operating instructions. \nMonitor scheduled processing, execution results, data freshness, and pipeline errors. \nInvestigate failures involving source data, SQL logic, SSIS packages, APIs, and downstream dependencies. \nDocument troubleshooting findings and escalate complex issues to senior engineers. \nCorrect assigned defects and support regression testing, reconciliation, and release validation. \nMaintain version-controlled code and support approved deployment and rollback procedures. \nCoordinate with governance, database, BI, AI/ML, and testing teams on data definitions, dependencies, and quality issues. \nUpdate runbooks and technical documentation following pipeline changes and operational findings. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nThe following must-have qualifications are drawn from the supplied position requirements:\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nMinimum of six years of relevant professional experience. \nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or a permitted equivalent. \nExperience developing and maintaining ETL workflows. \n Experience supporting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). \nStrong SQL skills, including experience developing SQL transformations. \nExperience with Python and API integrations. \nExperience developing and maintaining data mappings. \nExperience building and executing reconciliation checks. \nExperience maintaining pipeline documentation and data lineage. \nAbility to support schema management and troubleshoot data pipelines. \nAbility to implement raw, standardized, and curated data layers. \nCompTIA Security+ CE or another approved IAT Level II certification when applicable to assigned duties. \nPreferred Qualifications\nThe following qualifications are preferred but are not required:\nRelevant data engineering certification. \nExperience supporting federal or Department of Defense data environments. \nExperience with data warehouses, analytical datasets, BI platforms, or AI-ready data. \nExperience implementing incremental loads, checkpoints, retries, and failed-record handling. \nFamiliarity with metadata management, data governance, common identifiers, and authoritative sources. \nExperience developing automated data-quality and regression checks. \nFamiliarity with version control, CI/CD, deployment automation, and rollback processes. \nFamiliarity with secure API authentication, service accounts, secrets management, and audit logging. \nStrong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-team coordination skills. \nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
