The engineer will reconcile data, manage schema changes, maintain lineage, and troubleshoot complex pipeline failures to support accurate and timely mission analysis, AI capabilities, and reporting.\nThe Senior Data/ETL Engineer will work with the Lead Data/ETL Engineer, database administrators, data governance personnel, AI/ML engineers, BI developers, testers, and Government stakeholders to maintain secure, traceable, and supportable data integrations.\nThis position is remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Senior Data/ETL Engineer will:\nSustain, troubleshoot, and optimize SSIS packages, configurations, schedules, and dependencies. \nDevelop and maintain approved integrations between source systems, databases, APIs, analytical environments, and reporting platforms. \nWrite SQL queries, stored procedures, transformations, and reconciliation routines. \nDevelop Python scripts for data ingestion, processing, validation, orchestration, and operational automation. \nImplement raw, standardized, and curated data layers with documented transformation rules. \nBuild and maintain incremental loads, including checkpoints and tracking of previously processed data. \nImplement API authentication, pagination, retry handling, logging, and error processing. \nReconcile source and target data using record counts, totals, completeness checks, and business rules. \nManage schema changes and assess their effects on pipelines, datasets, integrations, and reporting outputs. \nMaintain source-to-target mappings, identifier mappings, metadata, and data lineage. \nImplement controls for duplicate, missing, invalid, or failed records and support controlled reprocessing. \nMonitor pipeline execution, data freshness, processing performance, and operational errors. \nInvestigate complex failures involving SSIS, SQL, APIs, source data, transformations, and downstream dependencies. \nImplement approved corrections and validate successful processing and reconciliation. \nCoordinate changes with database, application, governance, AI/ML, BI, and testing teams. \nSupport automated regression testing, data-quality checks, defect resolution, and release validation. \nMaintain version-controlled code, deployment instructions, rollback procedures, and operational runbooks. \nProvide technical status, troubleshooting findings, risks, and improvement recommendations to the technical lead and Government stakeholders.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nThe following must-have qualifications are drawn from the supplied position requirements:\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nMinimum of eight years of relevant professional experience. \nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or a permitted equivalent. \n Experience maintaining and supporting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). \nStrong SQL and Python skills. \nExperience building or supporting API integrations. \nExperience implementing incremental data loads. \nExperience performing data reconciliation and managing schema changes. \nExperience documenting and maintaining data lineage. \nExperience troubleshooting complex data pipelines. \nAbility to implement raw, standardized, and curated data layers. \nCompTIA Security+ CE or another approved IAT Level II certification when applicable to assigned duties. \nPreferred Qualifications\nThe following qualifications are preferred but are not required:\nRelevant data engineering or cloud platform certification. \nExperience supporting federal or Department of Defense data environments. \nExperience with enterprise data warehouses, analytical datasets, BI platforms, or AI-ready data. \nExperience modernizing SSIS packages or migrating integrations to approved cloud services. \nFamiliarity with data governance, metadata repositories, common identifiers, and authoritative sources. \nExperience developing automated reconciliation tests, data-quality checks, and pipeline regression tests. \nExperience with CI/CD, version control, automated deployment, and rollback processes. \nFamiliarity with secure service accounts, secrets management, encryption, and audit logging. \nStrong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-team coordination skills. \nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
