This position supports endpoint images, application packaging, device provisioning, software deployment, patching, configuration baselines, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.\nThe Endpoint Engineer supports physical and virtual endpoints throughout their lifecycle, including testing, deployment, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, refresh, recovery, and retirement. The engineer works with the Senior Endpoint Engineer and other technical teams to deliver secure, consistent, and supportable endpoint services across USMEPCOM Headquarters, MEPS, Remote Processing Substations, COOP locations, and remote-user environments.\nThis role maintains a clear division of responsibility with Task 6 cybersecurity personnel. Task 6 identifies, prioritizes, and validates security findings. The Endpoint Engineer evaluates assigned findings, tests the approved correction, implements the operational change through established change-control procedures, and provides deployment evidence for cybersecurity validation.\nThis position is remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred. active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Endpoint Engineer will:\nDevelop, test, maintain, and document standardized endpoint images. \nMaintain image components, operating-system settings, drivers, firmware dependencies, security baselines, required software, and deployment configurations. \nSupport image versioning, testing, approval, release, rollback, and retirement processes. \nValidate endpoint images for functionality, compatibility, security, performance, and operational readiness. \nDevelop and maintain automated device-deployment task sequences, provisioning workflows, enrollment processes, and configuration profiles. \nSupport endpoint deployment using approved Microsoft and Government management platforms. \nAdminister approved endpoint-management capabilities involving Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Windows Autopilot, or comparable technologies. \nDevelop, test, maintain, and deploy application packages. \nPackage commercial, Government, and internally developed software using approved formats and standards. \nDevelop installation, detection, dependency, requirement, upgrade, repair, and removal logic. \nTest application packages for silent installation, accurate detection, compatibility, security, and clean removal. \nTroubleshoot package failures, dependency problems, application conflicts, detection errors, and deployment issues. \nDevelop approved scripts and automation for provisioning, packaging, configuration, deployment, validation, and remediation. \nMaintain endpoint-management scripts and configurations in approved documentation and version-control repositories. \nSupport patching of endpoint operating systems, applications, drivers, firmware, and management components. \nConfigure and maintain pilot groups, deployment rings, production waves, maintenance windows, deadlines, and exception processes. \nTest operating-system updates, security patches, vendor patches, and application updates before production deployment. \nMonitor patch and deployment progress, failure rates, compliance status, endpoint health, and approved exceptions. \nInvestigate failed patches and coordinate corrective actions, redeployment, rollback, or exception documentation. \nEngineer and support Virtual Desktop Infrastructure capabilities. \nDevelop and maintain VDI base images, desktop pools, application delivery, user-profile configurations, and endpoint-access policies. \nTroubleshoot VDI login, profile, application, display, performance, peripheral, and connectivity problems. \nSupport VDI refreshes, upgrades, capacity activities, deployment, testing, and optimization. \nCoordinate VDI dependencies with virtualization, storage, network, identity, application, and cybersecurity teams. \nSupport endpoint deployment and refresh projects across geographically dispersed USMEPCOM locations. \nAssist with device provisioning, enrollment, configuration, testing, deployment, replacement, recovery, and retirement. \nSupport operating-system upgrades, application migrations, technology refreshes, and endpoint-management transitions. \nProvide advanced engineering support for complex endpoint, image, application-packaging, deployment, patching, and VDI incidents. \nAnalyze endpoint logs, deployment status, policy results, management-platform data, and other technical evidence. \nSupport root-cause analysis and implement approved corrective actions for recurring endpoint incidents. \nAssist with major incidents and outages involving endpoint management, software deployments, VDI, or widespread device failures. \nImplement approved workarounds and restoration actions during endpoint-related incidents. \nCoordinate with the Service Desk and field-support teams to improve troubleshooting, escalation, and knowledge content. \nDevelop technical guidance for common endpoint, packaging, deployment, patching, and VDI problems. \nReview cybersecurity findings assigned to endpoint operations by Task 6. \nAssess operational impact, dependencies, testing requirements, deployment approach, and rollback requirements. \nTest and implement approved endpoint security changes through established change and release procedures. \nExecute assigned remediation involving endpoint images, software versions, patches, configurations, policies, or management settings. \nTrack the affected endpoint population, deployment status, failures, exceptions, and completion results. \nProvide remediation and completion evidence to Task 6 for validation. \nCoordinate unresolved remediation issues with cybersecurity personnel, vendors, system owners, and Government stakeholders. \nApply approved endpoint-security baselines and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides. \nSupport endpoint compliance reporting, configuration validation, vulnerability remediation, and audit-evidence collection. \nMaintain endpoint inventories, deployment records, image documentation, software-package records, patch status, VDI records, and configuration baselines. \nDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures, packaging instructions, test plans, deployment plans, rollback procedures, and recovery documentation. \nFollow approved incident, problem, change, release, configuration, asset, security, and quality-management processes. \nProvide endpoint health, deployment, patching, compliance, risk, and issue information for program reporting. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nCandidates must meet all of the following requirements:\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nBachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience where permitted by the applicable labor category. \nMinimum of six years of relevant experience in endpoint engineering, systems engineering, device management, desktop engineering, VDI engineering, or a related technical discipline. \nExperience developing or maintaining enterprise endpoint images. \nExperience developing, testing, and deploying application packages. \nExperience supporting endpoint provisioning, deployment, patching, configuration, and lifecycle management. \nExperience engineering or supporting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. \nExperience implementing assigned endpoint-security or vulnerability-remediation changes. \nExperience troubleshooting complex endpoint, packaging, deployment, patching, or VDI issues. \nKnowledge of controlled testing, pilot deployment, phased implementation, validation, rollback, and change-management practices. \nAbility to maintain image documentation, software-package records, test plans, deployment plans, rollback procedures, and completion evidence. \nMicrosoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate certification when relevant to the assigned Microsoft 365 or Intune environment. \nAbility to support after-hours maintenance, deployment windows, critical incidents, and endpoint recovery when required. \nStrong written, verbal, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills. \nPreferred Qualifications\nThe
