This role is primarily focused on the development, enhancement, and sustainment of Java-based backend applications and services that support mission-critical transportation and logistics operations.\nThe Software Developer will design and develop backend services, APIs, integrations, and application components using Java and modern Java frameworks such as Spring Boot. The developer will work across the software development lifecycle, supporting new capabilities, system enhancements, defect resolution, integration, testing, and deployment.\nWhile exposure to front-end technologies such as Angular is beneficial, this position is best suited for a developer whose primary strength is Java backend development.\nThe ideal candidate brings strong hands-on Java development experience, experience building and supporting RESTful services and enterprise applications, and the ability to troubleshoot complex application and integration issues in a collaborative Agile/DevSecOps environment.\nThis position is fully remote. \nDuties & Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, enhance, and maintain Java-based backend applications and services supporting the IBS program\nDevelop backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and related Java frameworks and libraries\nDesign, build, maintain, and consume RESTful APIs and web services\nDevelop application business logic, service-layer components, integrations, and data-access functionality\nIntegrate backend services with relational databases, external systems, and other application components\nTranslate functional and technical requirements into reliable, scalable, and maintainable software solutions\nWrite clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable Java code following established coding standards and software engineering best practices\nDevelop and maintain unit and integration tests to support application quality and reliability\nParticipate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback to continuously improve code quality\nTroubleshoot and resolve backend application defects, integration issues, and performance problems\nAnalyze application logs and system behavior to identify root causes and implement effective solutions\nSupport application integrations across system components and external interfaces\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated build, test, and deployment processes\nEnsure applications comply with DoD security requirements, secure coding practices, and applicable STIG requirements\nParticipate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation for application components, APIs, integrations, and system changes\nCollaborate with senior developers, technical leads, QA, DevSecOps, database, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to support successful releases and deployments\nSupport front-end integration efforts and, as needed, contribute to Angular-based application components\nQualifications\nActive Secret Clearance\nIAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ CE preferred)\nMinimum 3+ years of professional software development experience\nStrong hands-on experience developing applications using Java\nExperience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, or comparable Java application frameworks\nExperience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and web services\nExperience developing backend business logic, service-layer components, and application integrations\nExperience working with relational databases and SQL\nExperience with object-oriented design, software design principles, and common development patterns\nExperience writing unit and integration tests for Java applications\nExperience troubleshooting and debugging enterprise applications, APIs, and integrations\nExperience using Git or similar source-control tools\nExperience working in Agile software development environments\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices\nStrong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a distributed development team\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting USTRANSCOM, DoD, or other federal mission systems\nExperience with Spring Boot-based enterprise applications or microservices\nExperience developing applications using microservices architectures\nExperience with cloud-based environments, particularly AWS\nExperience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes\nExperience with messaging, asynchronous processing, or enterprise application integration technologies\nFamiliarity with application security, secure coding practices, vulnerability remediation, and security scanning tools\nExperience with tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence\nExperience working in a DoD DevSecOps environment\nFamiliarity with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS and the integration of front-end applications with Java REST APIs\nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
