This role will support network installations, technology refreshes, maintenance activities, service outages, and equipment-relocation cutovers.\nThe successful candidate will work with network leadership, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity personnel, Government stakeholders, vendors, and the Outage Response Team to maintain secure, reliable, and resilient network services.\nThis is a hybrid position based in N. Chicago, Illinois. The role may require after-hours availability during outages, maintenance windows, installations, equipment refreshes, and relocation cutovers.\nNote: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Network Engineer will:\nEngineer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus data-center switching environments. \nSupport Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure fabrics and associated policy-based network configurations. \nConfigure and support Application Policy Infrastructure Controllers, tenants, virtual routing and forwarding instances, bridge domains, endpoint groups, contracts, and external connectivity. \nSupport software-defined networking configurations across data-center network infrastructure. \nInstall, configure, maintain, refresh, and troubleshoot top-of-rack switches, data-center switches, network appliances, and related connectivity. \nSupport physical and logical connectivity among servers, storage platforms, virtualization environments, appliances, cloud services, and enterprise networks. \nConfigure and troubleshoot VLANs, trunks, port channels, virtual port channels, routing, access controls, and redundant network paths. \nSupport network architecture planning, integration, implementation, testing, and performance analysis. \nGather and document technical requirements for data-center connectivity, network installations, equipment refreshes, and relocation activities. \nDevelop implementation procedures, migration plans, cutover plans, validation steps, rollback procedures, and outage contingencies. \nExecute approved network installations, technology refreshes, configuration changes, and equipment replacements. \nSupport relocation cutovers for network equipment and associated infrastructure at USMEPCOM and MEPS locations. \nCoordinate pre-cutover preparation, equipment staging, configuration validation, connectivity testing, implementation, and post-cutover verification. \nSupport the physical relocation of network equipment and related supplies to new or modified facilities. \nCoordinate with cabling personnel on rack layouts, patching, fiber, copper cabling, network drops, and equipment interconnections. \nSupport site surveys and maintain accurate physical and logical network diagrams, rack layouts, as-built documentation, and equipment inventories. \nTest network devices and configurations before installation in production environments. \nApply approved firmware, operating-system, vendor, security, and configuration updates to network devices. \nConfigure network devices in accordance with applicable security requirements and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides. \nMonitor network availability, performance, utilization, capacity, faults, interfaces, and data-center connectivity. \nDiagnose and resolve complex Layer 2, Layer 3, fabric, switching, routing, latency, packet-loss, and connectivity issues. \nSupport WAN, LAN, circuit, SD-WAN, firewall, VPN, wireless, and cloud-connectivity troubleshooting when issues affect data-center services. \nParticipate in Outage Response Team activities involving network degradation or service outages. \nProvide technical diagnosis, corrective actions, workarounds, restoration support, and root-cause-analysis input. \nCoordinate technical escalation and troubleshooting with Cisco, DISA, telecommunications providers, equipment vendors, cloud providers, and other external support organizations. \nSupport remote locations with network connectivity, router, circuit, firewall, VPN, ISP, and cloud-service issues. \nFollow approved incident, change, configuration, release, and service-transition processes. \nMaintain network configurations, implementation records, change documentation, test results, troubleshooting procedures, and technical knowledge articles. \nIdentify recurring network problems, capacity constraints, points of failure, and modernization opportunities and recommend corrective actions. \nProvide technical guidance to network administrators, support specialists, and other infrastructure personnel. \nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nActive Secret clearance or higher. \nBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. \nMinimum of 8 years of relevant network engineering, network administration, data-center networking, or enterprise infrastructure experience. \nCurrent Cisco Certified Network Professional certification. \nAbility to work a hybrid schedule in N. Chicago, Illinois. \nPreferred Qualifications\nHands-on experience supporting Cisco Nexus switches and Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure. \nExperience configuring ACI tenants, VRFs, bridge domains, endpoint groups, contracts, Application Policy Infrastructure Controllers, and external network connectivity. \nExperience with software-defined networking and policy-based data-center network architectures. \nExperience configuring and troubleshooting top-of-rack switching, virtual port channels, port channels, VLANs, trunks, routing, and redundant network paths. \nExperience supporting data-center connectivity among compute, storage, virtualization, security, cloud, and network platforms. \nExperience completing network installations, equipment refreshes, migrations, maintenance activities, and relocation cutovers. \nExperience developing method-of-procedure documents, implementation plans, test plans, rollback procedures, and cutover checklists. \nExperience supporting network-related outages, service restoration, vendor escalation, and root-cause analysis. \nExperience with Cisco routing and switching technologies, including EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VLAN routing, and Quality of Service. \nExperience supporting WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, circuits, firewalls, VPNs, wireless infrastructure, load balancers, and cloud connectivity. \nExperience with network-monitoring, configuration-management, performance-management, and observability platforms. \nExperience applying DISA STIGs and supporting DoD RMF, ATO, IAVA, CND Directive, and POA&M requirements. \nExperience producing network diagrams, rack layouts, as-built documentation, equipment inventories, and configuration records. \nFamiliarity with structured cabling, patch panels, fiber connectivity, inside-plant infrastructure, and network-drop planning. \nAdditional certifications such as CCNP Data Center, CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent credentials. \nITIL Foundation or higher certification. \nExperience working in a federal or Department of Defense network environment. \nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, change-management, and stakeholder-coordination skills. \nAbility to support after-hours outages, maintenance windows, installations, equipment refreshes, and relocation cutovers when required. \nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
