This role is responsible for enterprise database installation, patching, performance tuning, indexing design, high availability (HA) configurations, clustering, backup and recovery operations, and RMF control support across AU, AC, and SC control families.\nThe Senior DBA ensures the security, integrity, and reliability of mission-critical data systems while working closely with application development, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to support IL5-compliant environments.\nThis position is fully remote. \nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe Senior Database Administrator (DBA) will:\nInstall, configure, and maintain enterprise database platforms across multiple environments. \nPerform database patching, upgrades, schema updates, and configuration changes. \nDesign and optimize indexing strategies, query plans, and database structures to improve performance. \nImplement and maintain High Availability (HA), clustering, replication, and failover capabilities. \nConduct performance tuning, diagnose bottlenecks, and resolve complex database issues. \nManage backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime. \nSupport RMF security control families (AU, AC, SC) through logging, auditing, encryption, and access control configuration. \nApply STIGs, security patches, and DoD cybersecurity requirements to database systems. \nCollaborate with developers on stored procedures, data modeling, and performance optimization. \nCoordinate with cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities, scan results, and compliance artifacts. \nMaintain operational documentation, configuration baselines, and database runbooks. \nProvide technical support during deployments, release cycles, and environment refreshes. \nMentor junior DBAs and contribute to continuous improvement of database operations. \nQualifications\nClearance Requirement\nMust hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation.\nEducation (Required)\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Database Administration, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.\nExperience (Required)\nMinimum 10 years of experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments. \nExperience with installation, patching, configuration, performance tuning, and indexing optimization. \nExperience implementing HA, clustering, replication, or failover strategies. \nExperience supporting RMF security controls, particularly AU, AC, and SC families. \nExperience with database backup, restore, and disaster recovery practices. \nExperience applying STIGs, security settings, and DoD cybersecurity requirements. \nTechnical Knowledge (Required)\nProficiency in relational database platforms (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL). \nStrong SQL skills including query optimization and execution plan analysis. \nKnowledge of database auditing, logging, encryption, and access control. \nFamiliarity with IL5 cloud database hosting patterns. \nExperience using monitoring and performance analytics tools. \nTechnical Knowledge (Preferred)\nExperience with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC). \nFamiliarity with cloud-native database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, etc.). \nExperience supporting CI/CD database integration. \nCertifications\nRequired:\nCompTIA Security+ \nPreferred:\nOracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server vendor certifications \nAWS Database Specialty or AWS Security certifications \nCISSP or CCSP \nSkills\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex database issues. \nAbility to manage high-availability environments and mission-critical data systems. \nClear written and verbal communication skills for technical coordination. \nStrong attention to detail and commitment to secure, stable, and optimized database operations. \nAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, distributed environment. \n\nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
