This role oversees secure hosting of IL5-compliant database platforms, ensuring optimal performance, schema governance, RMF control alignment, and full integration with the SDLC, DevSecOps, and application development teams.\nThe Senior DBA is responsible for database engineering, performance tuning, replication, failover strategies, backup and recovery, and vulnerability remediation while leading a technical team of database administrators. This role ensures the reliability, resilience, and security of mission-critical data systems across multiple environments.\nThis position is fully remote.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nProvide senior-level leadership over database operations, engineering, and administration in IL5 cloud and on-premise environments. \nOversee schema governance, indexing strategies, data modeling, and optimization for performance and scalability. \nEnsure database platforms comply with DoD security requirements, RMF controls, STIG baselines, and audit readiness. \nLead performance tuning efforts, query optimization, and troubleshooting of complex database issues. \nManage backup, recovery, replication, clustering, and failover strategies to support high availability. \nCoordinate with DevSecOps engineers on database integration within CI/CD pipelines. \nSupport secure SDLC processes, including database change control and release planning. \nManage database access controls, permissions, service accounts, and privileged user oversight. \nOversee vulnerability scanning, patch planning, and remediation for database technologies. \nCollaborate with application developers to align database design with business logic, data workflows, and mission requirements. \nMaintain database documentation, ER diagrams, configuration baselines, and operational runbooks. \nLead and mentor a team of DBAs, ensuring adherence to best practices, consistent processes, and high operational readiness. \nProvide technical input to modernization initiatives, cloud migration strategies, and new platform evaluations. \nQualifications\nClearance Requirement\nMust hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation.\nEducation (Required)\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.\nExperience (Required)\nMinimum 10 years of experience in database administration, engineering, or architecture roles. \nDemonstrated leadership in managing enterprise-class database systems in secure federal or DoD environments. \nExperience implementing IL5 database security controls, RMF requirements, and STIG compliance. \nExperience supporting SDLC integration, release cycles, and DevSecOps workflows. \nExperience with performance tuning, complex queries, indexing, and database optimization. \nExperience managing replication, clustering, failover, and backup/recovery operations. \nTechnical Knowledge (Required)\nStrong expertise with relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL). \nProficiency in database security, encryption, auditing, and privileged access management. \nKnowledge of RMF, STIGs, IL5 cloud security controls, and DoD cybersecurity requirements. \nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and DevSecOps concepts. \nExperience with database monitoring tools, log analysis, and performance analytics. \nCertifications\nRequired:\nCompTIA Security+ \nSkills\nStrong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor technical teams. \nExcellent analytical and problem solving abilities, especially for complex data and performance issues. \nClear communication skills for working with developers, security teams, and federal stakeholders. \nStrong attention to detail with disciplined documentation and configuration management practices. \nAbility to manage priorities across multiple environments in a mission-critical setting. \nOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy\nEEO and Affirmative Action Policy: DecisionPoint Corporation is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
