The contractor will audit our brand voice and content landscape, develop content standards and strategy, and produce help center articles, microcopy, and in-app guidance across Zendesk, Figma, and Pendo.\nThis engagement includes collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to gather context and align deliverables with product releases, while maintaining full autonomy over how work is completed. Tools you may interface with include Slack, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Zendesk, and Pendo.\nScope of Work & Deliverables\nTechnical Writing (approx. 50%)\nWrite and maintain help center articles for new features in Zendesk using staging environments and collaborating with product owners, designers, and developers as needed.\nProduce release announcements and in-app messaging that translate technical changes into clear, user-ready language.\nAnticipate documentation needs by reviewing sprint plans, grooming notes, and product updates.\nMaintain and improve existing documentation by reducing redundancy, improving structure, and retiring outdated content.\nCreate and manage Pendo in-app guides, tooltips, and walkthroughs that complement help center content.\nContent Strategy (approx. 30%)\nAudit existing brand voice and content across product and help center, identifying gaps and presenting recommendations.\nTranslate brand voice into tone guidelines, UX writing standards, and documentation style guides.\nDefine and evolve content architecture aligned with user needs and product organization.\nBuild a content roadmap tied to the product roadmap and sprint cycles.\nEstablish content operations including workflow, tooling, governance, and contribution guidelines.\nUse analytics and search data to measure content performance and drive iteration.\nUX Copy (approx. 20%)\nWrite microcopy and UI text including error messages, tooltips, empty states, and onboarding flows in Figma.\nProduce friction-reducing UI copy that minimizes the need for complex support documentation.\nAdvocate for UX copy quality in design reviews, identifying issues with labels, flows, and user-facing language.\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of experience spanning technical writing and content strategy in SaaS or platform environments.\nHands-on Zendesk experience creating, organizing, and maintaining help center content.\nExperience with Pendo or similar in-app guidance platforms.\nDemonstrated content/brand audit experience with clear methodology and stakeholder presentation skills.\nAbility to deliver end-to-end content strategy from research to execution and measurement.\nExceptional writing skills across technical, UX, and user-facing contexts.\nExperience working in Figma and contributing to UX copy within design workflows.\nFluency with AI-assisted writing tools across documentation and UX copy.\nComfort with HTML and CSS; JavaScript familiarity is a plus.\nData literacy with the ability to derive insights from analytics tools.\nStrong independent work capability with proactive communication in a remote environment.\nCommitment to writing quality (including, proudly, the Oxford comma).\nNice to Haves\nExperience in industrial SaaS such as asset management, logistics, or fleet services.\nBackground in UX writing or content design as a dedicated discipline.\nExperience building or managing content teams or contributor networks.\nEngagement Structure\nThis is a 1099 contractor engagement. The contractor will:\nDeliver work based on milestones, deadlines, and agreed-upon scope.\nCollaborate with Decisiv teams as needed to complete deliverables.\nUse their own equipment, tools, and methods to produce work.\nThis role is structured as an independent contractor (1099) engagement and is not an offer of employment. Individuals engaged in this role will operate as independent contractors and are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, equipment, and business expenses.
