Led by Michael Antonov, co-founder of Oculus, and backed by Formic Ventures, we are redefining the infrastructure behind modern drug discovery.\nOur AI-driven platform enables scientists to accelerate discovery, reduce cost, and bring breakthrough innovations to life faster. As we scale our scientific platform and expand our portfolio of research, biotech, pharmaceutical, and government partnerships, building strong and enduring relationships with our collaborators is critical to advancing our mission to dramatically reduce disease and extend human healthspan.\nAbout the role\nDeep Origin is seeking anAlliance Manager to own the day-to-day management of our growing portfolio of scientific and drug discovery partnerships.\nThis is a highly hands-on, client-facing role at the intersection ofscience, relationship management, program execution, and business development. You will serve as the primary point of contact for active collaborations, ensuring that scientific milestones stay on track, governance structures work effectively, meetings lead to clear actions, and potential issues are identified before they become problems. For ARPA-H specifically, this role will coordinate closely with the designated ARPA-H relationship manager and support program execution, but will not serve as the relationship manager for ARPA-H.\nWe are looking for someone who wants todo the work: build relationships, run meetings, maintain milestone trackers, coordinate across teams, identify risks, follow through on commitments, and establish the operational structure that allows partnerships to succeed.\nApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.\nRequirements\n3-5 years of experience in alliance management, partnership management, biotech/pharma business development or a closely related role.\nExperience managing external partnerships involving multiple organizations and internal stakeholders.\nDemonstrated ability to own day-to-day external partner relationships rather than operating solely as an internal project manager.\nExperience managing multiple simultaneous partnerships, milestones, meetings, deliverables, and changing timelines.\nBachelor's or higher degree in biology, chemistry, biotechnology, life sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant scientific experience.\nStrong scientific fluency and understanding of the drug development process (small molecules).\nAbility to follow discussions involving areas such as safety toxicology, ADMET, and hit-to-lead drug discovery and understand their relevance to program progress, even without being the scientific domain expert.\nStrong relationship-building instincts and a highly client-facing mindset.\nAbility to build trust quickly and communicate credibly with both scientists and business stakeholders.\nStrong judgment around when to escalate a partner issue versus resolving it independently.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication appropriately for external partners and internal stakeholders.\nHighly organized and proactive, with the ability to establish structure where processes are still evolving.\nComfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment where priorities, milestones, and timelines may change.\nAbility to operate independently while collaborating closely with scientific, product, program, and commercial teams.\nWillingness and ability to travel regularly to partner sites, company meetings, and relevant industry conferences.\nExperience managing partnerships fromboth sides of an alliance: managing a large pharmaceutical partner while working within a biotech company andmanaging smaller biotech, academic, or research partners from within a larger organization. \n\nNice-to-have:\nExperience working in biotechnology, pharmaceutical R&D, drug discovery, computational biology, or a related life sciences environment.\nFamiliarity with government-funded scientific programs or collaborations, including ARPA-H, DARPA, NIH, or similar mechanisms.\nExperience establishing or operating Joint Scientific Committees or comparable partnership governance structures.\nExperience working with multi-year research collaborations involving scientific milestones and formal governance.\nManagement consulting experience involving life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical clients.\nExperience supporting partnership renewals, expansions, or commercial development opportunities.\nKey responsibilities\nOwn partner relationships: serve as the primary point of contact for scientific and drug discovery partnerships, managing communication, meetings, follow-ups, and ongoing engagement.\nManage partnership governance: establish and maintain milestone trackers, meeting cadences, deliverables, action items, and governance processes across multiple collaborations.\n Lead Joint Scientific Committees (JSCs): own JSC structure, agendas, preparation, documentation, and follow-through while partnering closely with scientific leadership.\nCoordinate scientific programs: work across R&D, toxicology, product, commercial, and BD teams to keep scientific objectives, partner expectations, timelines, and execution aligned.\nIdentify and escalate risks early: monitor partnership health and proactively surface scientific, operational, timeline, or relationship risks before they become critical.\nSupport growth within existing partnerships: identify signals for renewals, expansions, and new collaboration opportunities and share relevant commercial intelligence with BD and commercial leadership.\nDrive cross-functional alignment: ensure effective handoffs from BD into execution and maintain clear communication between partner teams and internal scientific, product, and commercial stakeholders.\nSupport complex collaborations: help manage partnerships across biotech, pharma, academia, and government, including programs with formal milestones, reporting requirements, and multiple participating organizations.\nValues & Working Style\nOwnership mindset - you take responsibility for the health of your partnerships and follow issues through to resolution.\nHands-on execution - you are comfortable doing the detailed work required to keep partnerships moving, not just developing strategy.\nRelationship-driven - you understand that successful alliances depend on trust, credibility, responsiveness, and clear communication.\nScientifically curious - you don't need to be the domain expert in every program, but you want to understand the science well enough to recognize what matters.\nProactive - you identify gaps, risks, and missing structure before someone asks you to address them.\nHighly organized - you can manage a complex portfolio without allowing milestones, commitments, or follow-ups to fall through the cracks.\nStrong communicator - particularly internally, where you ensure the right people have the right context at the right time.\nComfortable with ambiguity - you can establish structure while working in a rapidly evolving biotech startup.\nCommercially aware - you recognize when a strong scientific partnership may create opportunities for deeper collaboration. \nWhat we offer:\nOpportunity to play a central role in Deep Origin's most important scientific and commercial partnerships.\nDirect exposure to cutting-edge drug discovery, computational science, AI-driven research, and government-funded biomedical programs.\nSignificant ownership over building Deep Origin's alliance management practices and governance frameworks.\nOpportunity to work closely with senior leadership team.\nCareer growth as the partnership portfolio and alliance management function expand.\nWhy This Role Matters Now\nDeep Origin's partnership portfolio is expanding across biotech, pharmaceutical, and government-funded scientific collaborations. As these programs grow in number and complexity, successful execution requires dedicated ownership after a partnership is signed.\nCreating a dedicated Alliance Management function will allow Deep Origin to establish consistent governance, improve partner experience, identify risks earlier, and create stronger pathways toward renewal and expansion.\nThe person joining this role will have the opportunity not only to manage existing partnerships, but also to help build the operating model for how Deep Origin manages scientific alliances as the company scales.\nBenefits\nCompetitive compensation package with meaningful equity.\nComprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage. \nRemote-friendly culture with optional onsite work.\nAnnual team gatherings and company events.\nFree lunch, snacks, beverages, and onsite gym access (for in-office employees).","description_format":"text","description_chars":8881,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Company events","Equity"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Artificial Intelligence","Drug Discovery","Medical AI"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-13T07:58:29Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":61,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.811,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":28,"expected_fill_days":35,"reasons":["conf:0","win:late"],"computed_at":"2026-10-13T16:16:49Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/deep-origin-middlesenior-alliance-manager","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/deep-origin-middlesenior-alliance-manager.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-13T16:16:49Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":24747,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-14T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3791251},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3791251"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fdeep-origin-middlesenior-alliance-manager"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fdeep-origin-middlesenior-alliance-manager"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fdeep-origin-middlesenior-alliance-manager"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/deep-origin-middlesenior-alliance-manager\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fdeep-origin-middlesenior-alliance-manager"}]}
