By becoming a DCC team member, you will have the opportunity to deliver infrastructure solutions that support Canada’s troops and the defence of the country.\nThe Coordinator, Construction Services, manages and administers low-complexity construction, professional services and service contracts to ensure compliance with contract requirements. The incumbent may provide support under the functional direction of a contract coordinator on higher complexity contracts. The incumbent engages in daily discussions and negotiations with contractors and the Client-Partners about quality of work, interpretation of contract documents, scope changes, progress claim reviews and other issues. The incumbent addresses contract management risks within delegated authority and complies with service line requirements.\nKEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES\nThe duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive:\nPrimary\nManage and administer contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements \nCoordinate and solve day-to-day contractual problems\nMonitor and control schedules\nLiaise with Client-Partner representatives (e.g. on contract-related problems and risks)\nMaintain site activity records (e.g. photos, activity reports), as required\nAssess, negotiate and issue contract change orders\nDevelop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders\nEnsure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations\nOther\nEnsure health and safety, industrial security and environmental compliance\nCarry out financial control for contracts\nCoordinate consultant construction review and third-party testing\nManage contract risk\nOther duties as assigned\nSKILLS\nGeneral and Specific Knowledge\nBest practices, methods, trends and legislation in construction\nConstruction products and materials\nProject, contract and risk management principles\nHealth and safety management\nFormal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience\nMinimum: college diploma in engineering, applied science or related field with approximately two years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent\nAbilities\nUse applicable computer software and operating systems\nInterpret drawings and specifications\nApply project, contract and risk management techniques to construction and consultant contracts \nDEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP\nProvide functional advice and guidance to employees and to Client-Partners\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nTypical construction site environment; incumbent is required to wear basic safety equipment\nSome work may be in a typical office environment with occasional travel\nCold Lake\nThe City of Cold Lake is located in Alberta’s Lakeland and nestled on the shore of Alberta’s seventh largest lake. The area is known for its many pristine lakes and forests which offer excellent camping, fishing, water sports, and many other recreational activities. Cold Lake also has modern recreation and sport facilities, a nearby alpine ski hill, as well as urban and rural trail systems. Defence Construction Canada (DCC) Cold Lake is located at 4 Wing which is an air force base operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force and home to Western Canada’s fighter jets. The Cold Lake air base is known as Canada’s busiest fighter base and the 1.17-million-hectare Cold Lake Air Weapons Range provides opportunity for Canadian and International Air Force training.
