Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.\nA Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:\nThe Smog Technician Trainee is responsible for assisting a licensed inspector to perform applicable tests and inspections according to local regulations and the DEKRA standard. This individual's primary responsibilities include managing cash, delivering services with exceptional customer service, and maintaining the property, grounds, and equipment. During your employment as a Smog Inspector Trainee, you will need to enroll in a BAR Smog Inspector-approved course (DEKRA Sponsored) and be able to successfully complete the course to become a certified inspector.\nWhat You'll Do:\nContribute to a safe and healthy work environment by actively participating, taking responsibility, and following established procedures and policies. \nLearn while assisting to perform state-specific tests and inspections according to the California BAR regulations and the DEKRA standard. \nPerform product sales and services, including registration services. \nDeliver all services and address all customers with exceptional customer service. \nAnswer telephone calls and assist customers by answering any questions and/or addressing any concerns. \nEffectively manage cash and non-cash payment received. This includes daily reconciliation of all payments received and completing bank deposits. \nMaintain the property, grounds, and equipment at the station. \nComplete the required tasks outlined in the daily checklists at your station. \nPerform other duties as assigned to support business needs. \nAlways maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, adhering to the DEKRA standard. \nPerform other duties as assigned. \nWhat Makes a Great Candidate:\nAn interest in the automotive field and a desire to learn the ins and outs of a Smog Inspector position. \n1-2 years of automotive retail, preferred. \nValid driver’s license \nCommitted to excellent customer service. \nAbility to manage cash and noncash payments. \nAbility to pass a DOJ background check to perform DMV Registration Services \nPhysical Considerations:\nMust be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. \nWhile on the job, employees must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, etc for extended periods of time. \nAbility to work in all weather conditions. \nRequires use of hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling, and turning. \nTravel Considerations:\nNo travel is required for this position \nWhat You’ll Receive for the Value You Bring:\nCompensation:\nThe base pay for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hour. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
