Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role is responsible for month-end close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, cash accounting, prepaid expense amortization, and state and local tax compliance. The Senior Accountant will also support annual financial audits and bank examinations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial records, compliance with accounting policies, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.\nREQUIRED CORE COMPETENCIES\nAttention to Detail - Maintains accuracy and completeness in journal entries, account reconciliations, tax filings, and audit documentation while identifying and correcting discrepancies.\nAnalytical & Problem-Solving Skills - Analyzes financial data, investigates reconciliation variances, monitors expense amortization, and identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes.\nOrganization & Time Management - Effectively prioritizes month-end close activities, tax filing deadlines, audit requirements, and other accounting responsibilities to ensure timely completion.\nCommunication & Collaboration - Communicates clearly and professionally with the Assistant Controller, internal teams, external auditors, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.\nAccountability & Initiative - Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, proactively resolves accounting discrepancies, and contributes to process improvements and audit readiness.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nPrepare and post month-end journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting.\nPerform expense allocations in accordance with established accounting policies and internal procedures.\nRecord cash transactions and intercompany transfers in the cash sub-ledger.\nReconcile corporate bank accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.\nPrepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and follow through on outstanding variances.\nTrack, maintain, and amortize prepaid expenses in accordance with applicable accounting policies.\nCalculate and record commercial insurance accruals accurately and within established deadlines.\nPrepare and submit sales tax filings across multiple states and jurisdictions.\nPrepare and remit state and local income taxes in accordance with applicable regulations and deadlines.\nCoordinate the preparation, filing, and payment of required annual reports across multiple states.\nAssist in preparing audit schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and responding to requests for the annual financial audit.\nSupport the annual bank examination by preparing schedules, retrieving documents, and coordinating requested information.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial data.\nIdentify opportunities to streamline general accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve operational efficiency.\nEnsure compliance with U.S. GAAP, applicable tax requirements, and established accounting policies and procedures.\nWHAT WE LOOK FOR\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nExperience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with exposure to general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, and tax compliance.\nTechnical Skills:\nCPA license or CPA candidate status preferred.\nSolid understanding of U.S. GAAP and its application in general accounting and financial reporting.\nExperience with month-end close, journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash accounting.\nWorking knowledge of state and local tax filings, including sales tax and income tax remittances.\nExperience supporting external audits, bank examinations, and related documentation requirements.\nProficiency in general ledger and accounting systems;
