To make that possible, we’re creating an environment where everyone can belong, grow, and do their best work.\nAbout the Role\nAs an Italy Payroll Analyst, you will be responsible for administering and overseeing the end-to-end payroll process for our Italy population. You’ll partner closely with HR, Finance, Employment Tax, Legal and our external payroll providers to ensure accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery.\nThis is an individual contributor role requiring strong technical expertise in Italian payroll legislation, statutory compliance and employee taxation. You will act as the Italy Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME), ensuring robust payroll governance, maintaining high standards of accuracy and supporting continuous improvement across our Workday and CloudPay payroll ecosystem.\nYou will also play an important role in identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and improve payroll processes, while supporting wider global payroll initiatives and projects.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nLead the end-to-end Italy payroll process - from data preparation, validation and payroll inputs through to review, reconciliation and final sign-off, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery.\nAct as the Italy Payroll SME, providing expert guidance on Italian payroll legislation, taxation, statutory requirements and payroll best practice.\nSupport other payroll entities within the team where required, contributing to the successful delivery of the wider global payroll operation.\nOversee outsourced payroll processing with our payroll provider, CloudPay, ensuring agreed SLAs, controls and quality standards are consistently met.\nPartner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Employment Tax and Legal to resolve payroll issues, ensure accurate data flows and deliver a seamless employee payroll experience.\nMaintain strong knowledge of Italian payroll legislation and statutory requirements, ensuring payroll processes remain compliant with regulatory changes.\nEnsure the accurate and timely processing of Italian statutory payments, contributions and filings, including social security, income tax and other applicable statutory requirements.\nReview and reconcile payroll outputs, identifying discrepancies and ensuring issues are investigated and resolved before payroll sign-off.\nPrepare and reconcile payroll journals and Finance reporting, ensuring payroll costs are accurately reflected in financial records and supporting audit requirements.\nManage payroll controls and governance, ensuring appropriate checks are completed throughout each payroll cycle and maintaining a strong audit trail.\nDrive continuous improvement and automation, identifying opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve controls and increase payroll efficiency.\nAct as SME for CloudPay and Workday payroll processes in Italy, supporting system enhancements, integrations, testing and payroll-related projects.\nSupport Workday and payroll implementation/migration projects, including requirements gathering, testing, parallel runs and go-live activities.\nBuild strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, proactively identifying risks and resolving payroll issues.\nShare knowledge and best practice with colleagues across the wider Payroll team, supporting a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.\nSupport regional and global payroll initiatives, ensuring Italy remains aligned with Deliveroo’s wider payroll strategy and operating model.\nRequirements\n3+ years of progressive payroll experience, including significant experience managing Italian payroll and statutory compliance.\nStrong technical knowledge of Italian payroll legislation, employment taxation, social security and statutory requirements.\nExperience managing or overseeing outsourced payroll providers, ideally within a multinational or international organisation.\nExperience with Workday and/or CloudPay is preferred but not essential.\nProven ability to manage the full payroll lifecycle, including payroll inputs, validation, reconciliation, sign-off and statutory reporting.\nStrong understanding of payroll controls, governance, audit requirements and data integrity.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across HR, Finance, Tax, Legal and external vendors.\nDemonstrated ability to identify and deliver process improvements, automation and operational efficiencies.\nExperience supporting payroll system implementations, integrations, testing or transformation projects is desirable.\nAdvanced Excel skills, with the ability to perform detailed payroll reconciliations, analyse large datasets and identify discrepancies.\nAbility to work independently, take ownership of deliverables and confidently challenge processes or data where required.\nFluent Italian and strong English communication skills are highly desirable.\nWhy Deliveroo?\nWe’re a technology-driven company transforming how the world eats - making food more accessible, faster and better.
