This is a hybrid role. You’ll help us deliver a fair, consistent and high-performing employee experience by leading complex employee relations, strengthening manager capability and using people insights to improve how we work across our Merchant organisation.\nGet to know ourPeople team -what drives us, how we work and what you can expect.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nYou’ll be joining the UKI People team, primarily supporting our Merchant organisation. Employee relations sits at the heart of the role, alongside a broader focus on employee experience, operational excellence and continuous improvement.\nEmployee Relations and Case Management\nManage a varied and complex end-to-end caseload across performance, probation, absence, grievances and disciplinaries.\nProvide clear, practical advice that balances employee experience, commercial needs, employment law and organisational risk.\nBuild trusted relationships with managers, helping them address concerns early and confidently challenging where needed to achieve fair and consistent outcomes.\nRespond to sensitive employee and manager concerns with sound judgement, discretion and professionalism, ensuring issues are resolved or escalated appropriately.\nMaintain accurate and timely case documentation, delivering a consistently high standard of support across competing priorities.\nEmployee Experience and Engagement\nPartner with managers, leaders, and People colleagues to create an environment where employees feel heard, valued and supported.\nUse employee feedback, case themes and engagement insights to identify emerging concerns and opportunities to improve the employee experience.\nSupport feedback channels and targeted engagement activity, ensuring themes are followed through and actions are clearly communicated.\nCoach managers on the behaviours and everyday practices that influence engagement, performance and retention.\nRoot-Cause Analysis and Process Improvement\nUse case data, employee feedback and people trends to identify hotspots and underlying factors, such as onboarding, management capability or gaps in existing processes.\nTurn insights into practical interventions that reduce avoidable cases and improve employee and manager experiences.\nRecommend continuous improvements to People policies, guidance and processes, helping us deliver support with greater consistency and efficiency.\nIdentify recurring employee or manager questions and improve the guidance, tools and self-service resources available to them.\nManager Capability and Coaching\nCoach and upskill managers through sensitive people matters, helping them build the confidence and judgement to handle issues effectively.\nDeliver practical sessions on employee relations policies, UK employment legislation and effective people management.\nGuide managers towards the right People tools and resources, encouraging greater self-sufficiency while remaining available for complex or higher-risk situations.\nCommunicate complex processes and decisions clearly to a range of audiences, adapting your approach to the situation and the people involved.\nPeople Partnering and Strategic Support\nPartner with leaders across our Merchant organisation, building a strong understanding of their teams, priorities and people challenges.\nSupport core People processes, including performance calibrations, engagement activity and organisational change.\nUse data and people insights to support leadership discussions and inform practical, evidence-based decisions.\nContribute to targeted UKI People projects and work collaboratively across the wider People team to deliver meaningful improvements.\nWhat You’ll Need to Thrive\nEssential\nSignificant experience managing complex end-to-end employee relations cases within a fast-paced environment, backed by up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law.\nStrong advisory and coaching capability, with a proven ability to constructively challenge managers and balance commercial risk with employee experience.\nSound judgement and the confidence to navigate sensitive or ambiguous situations with limited direction.\nAn analytical mindset, with experience using case data, employee feedback and people trends to identify root causes and deliver proactive HR solutions.\nStrong organisational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to maintain accurate documentation, meet deadlines and deliver consistently across multiple priorities.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or sensitive information clearly to a range of audiences.\nA high level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential employee information.\nA collaborative and adaptable approach, with experience building trusted partnerships across teams and influencing without direct authority.\nConfidence using HR systems and digital tools to manage work, identify insights and improve the employee and manager experience.\nNice to Have\nExperience supporting commercial, operational or technology-led business units.\nBroader exposure to, or an interest in, HR Business Partnering and organisational design.\nExperience supporting employee listening, engagement or retention initiatives.\nExperience improving HR guidance, self-service tools or digital processes to increase adoption and make support easier to access.\nFamiliarity
