SUMMARY
Responsible for the architecture, design, validation, and manufacturing support of networking and rack-level mechanical systems throughout the product lifecycle.
Leads cross-functional engineering efforts to develop innovative, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that meet performance, thermal, regulatory, quality, and schedule requirements. Provides technical leadership across multiple programs and serves as a key interface between engineering teams, suppliers, ODM/JDM partners, and manufacturing operations.
Technical Leadership
Lead the mechanical architecture, design, development, and validates of complex products and rack-level solutions.
Drive technical decision-making and system-level trade-off discussions involving mechanical, thermal, electrical, manufacturing, cost, and reliability considerations.
Lead design reviews and provide technical direction across multiple development programs.
Establish and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, best practices, and documentation processes.
Product Development
Own mechanical design activities throughout the product lifecycle, including :
Concept development / Detailed design / Prototype builds
Design verification /Mass production support
Create and review engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, tolerance stack-ups, material selection, and BOMs.
Ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, environmental, and reliability requirements.
Evaluate and implement innovative technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
Electrical Engineering / Thermal Engineering /Industrial Design / Operation Engineering
Manufacturing Engineering / Quality Engineering / Supply Chain
Program Management / Suppliers and Contract Manufacturers
Lead technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
Manufacturing & Supplier Management
Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability (DFS).
Collaborate with suppliers on tooling, process development, and qualification activities.
Review and approve tooling designs, PPAP documentation, and manufacturing processes.
Support factory builds and resolveproduction issues.
Technical Skills
Advanced CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, Creo, SolidWorks…etc.).
Mechanical design expertise including:
Sheet metal / Plastic injection molding / Die casting
Extrusions / Machined components
Post-treatment design experience including:
Painting / Printing / Electro-plating / Anodizing / CVD coating / ED / AR, AG coating
Tolerance analysis and GD&T.
FEA and simulation tools.
Reliability and environmental testing.
DFM/DFA methodologies.
Root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
Preferred Qualifications (Networking/Datacenter Industry)
Experience designing in:
Networking equipment (L10 products) :
Enterprise ethernet switches / Data center switches / DLC switches
Rack-level infrastructure integration (L11 products) :
Elevation assessment / airflow optimization / cable management / FRSD documentation
Integration of L10 devices into the L11 racks, including EIA, OCP ORV3, and MGX rack platforms.
Knowledge of:
Thermal management / Airflow optimization / Liquid cooling solutions / EMI/EMC compliance
Rack integration / S & V reliability validation
Familiarity with ODM/JDM development models and factory operation workflows.
