The role focuses on designing performant SQL assets and data models, tuning high-quality application queries, and collaborating closely with analysts, product, and engineering teams to deliver reliably in a governed environment.\nKey Responsibilities:\nSQL Engineering & Data Design\nDesign, build, and optimise SQL objects including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and ETL/ELT logic.\n\nDevelop logical and physical data models and maintain ERDs and data dictionaries.\n\nTune SQL performance (indexing, partitioning, query optimisation).\n\nImplement validation rules, constraints, and reconciliation checks to ensure data quality.\n\nPipelines & Environments\nContribute to ETL/ELT pipelines and environment promotion using standardised patterns.\n\nUse version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows for database changes.\n\nCollaborate with platform/DevOps teams on capacity management, monitoring, and backup/recovery strategies.\n\nSmart Work Stack & Delivery Discipline\nWork within a structured delivery approach (story backlog, layered delivery model, reusable components).\n\nApply consulting-grade practices such as documentation, peer reviews, test execution, and quality checkpoints.\n\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, retros).\n\nCollaboration & Stakeholder Engagement\nPartner with BAs, product owners, and downstream consumers to translate requirements into robust SQL designs.\n\nSupport UAT, investigate defects, and resolve logic issues quickly.\n\nProduce runbooks, knowledge-transfer materials, and follow governance/security standards.\n\nRequirements\nRequired Skills & Experience:\nAdvanced SQL development experience (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or equivalent) with strong performance-tuning skills.\n\nStrong data modelling knowledge (star/snowflake schemas, indexing strategies, optimisation).\n\nExperience working in structured consulting or delivery environments with clear processes and standards.\n\nUnderstanding of CI/CD practices, version control (Git), and database change management.\n\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.\n\nHow We Work:\nDelta Capita is an equal opportunity employer.
