This role focuses on building and evolving platforms, tools, and self-service capabilities that improve developer productivity, accelerate delivery, and simplify the software development lifecycle.\nAs part of the team, you'll work across a diverse portfolio of engineering platforms and initiatives, including API Developer Portals, Mock API solutions, Feature Management Platforms, and Data Platforms, as well as other emerging technologies. This is an end-to-end engineering role that may span backend development, frontend development, DevOps, and automation. Success in this role requires strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for solving complex problems.\n Design, develop, test, and maintain developer platforms, tools, and services that improve engineering productivity and developer experience.\nBuild and enhance strategic developer enablement solutions, including developer portals, Mock API platforms, Feature Management solutions, Internal Developer Platform (IDP) capabilities, and Data platforms.\nPartner with engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, and product teams to identify developer pain points and implement scalable solutions.\nDesign and implement reusable services, frameworks, APIs, libraries, automation, and self-service capabilities.\nContribute to platform architecture, technical design, engineering standards, and best practices.\nIntegrate security, observability, automation, and compliance capabilities into engineering platforms and CI/CD pipelines.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and drive innovation through proofs of concept and production-ready solutions.\nContinuously improve platform adoption, reliability, operational efficiency, and developer satisfaction.\n Minimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\n4+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on Platform Engineering and Developer Experience. \nStrong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design, design patterns, system design, distributed systems, API design, and software architecture principles. \nProficient in Java or JavaScript.\nExperience building and supporting cloud-native applications and platforms, preferably in Azure.\nExperience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nExperience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.\nFamiliarity with API technologies, OpenAPI specifications, authentication, authorization, OAuth2, and JWT.\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Developer Experience (DevEx), Platform Engineering, Developer Productivity, or Internal Developer Platform (IDP) initiatives.\nExperience with technologies such as Azure API Management, WireMock, Backstage, LaunchDarkly, Azure App Configuration, Microsoft Fabric, GitHub Enterprise, or similar platforms.\nFamiliarity with DORA metrics and engineering productivity measurement.\nExperience building self-service platforms and developer enablement solutions.\nExperience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, or similar technologies.\nExperience developing AI agents, intelligent workflows, agentic applications, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.\nFamiliarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, vector databases, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and modern AI architecture patterns.\nExperience working in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe environments.\nWhat Makes You Successful\nStrong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.\nSolid engineering fundamentals and sound technical judgment.\nA proactive, \"go-getter\" mindset with a strong sense of ownership.\nAbility to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing priorities.\nEffective time management and the ability to balance multiple initiatives.\nComfortable working through ambiguity and helping define the path forward.\nPassion for improving developer productivity and engineering excellence.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.\nOpen to feedback, continuous learning, and improving how you work.\nBase Pay Information\nThe national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires.
