You’ll get hands-on with both diesel and electric vehicles, helping our engineers test, develop and validate vehicles before they make it into production. It’s a varied role combining specialist driving with practical vehicle fitting, diagnostics and fault-finding, so you’ll see first-hand how your work contributes to the development of our vehicles.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nDriving HGVs for development, validation and certification testing at proving grounds and on public roads.\nCarrying out vehicle safety checks and maintaining accurate test records.\nTesting prototype and pre-production vehicles and providing clear, objective feedback.\nDiagnosing faults and working alongside engineers to understand and resolve issues.\nInstalling, modifying and maintaining mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components.\nSupporting vehicle instrumentation and test equipment setup.\nWorking with engineers, technicians, suppliers and external test organisations.\nSupporting off-site testing and development activities when required.\nWhat we’re looking for\nYou’ll bring a strong understanding of HGVs, alongside practical vehicle fitting experience. For this role, you’ll need:\nRelevant experience in HGV test driving.\n\nPractical vehicle fitting experience.\n\nA full UK HGV driving licence.\nA City & Guilds HGV Mechanical qualification, or equivalent.\nExperience working with high-voltage systems.\nGood knowledge of HGV mechanical systems including chassis, suspension, steering, braking and driveline components.\nExperience of vehicle diagnostics and fault-finding.\nAn understanding of safe vehicle operation and proving ground testing.\nA collaborative approach and clear communication skills. \nExperience with hydraulic systems, vehicle development and validation, instrumentation or external test organisations such as MIRA or UTAC would be useful, but isn't essential.\nA role where you can make an impact\nThis is an opportunity to take your HGV experience beyond day-to-day driving or maintenance. You’ll work closely with our engineering teams, helping investigate issues, trial solutions and contribute to the development of both diesel and electric vehicles.
