This role supervises the Automation team and partners with cross-functional areas to deliver compliant, reliable, and scalable automated solutions.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and develop the Automation team, including performance feedback and support with payroll, vacations, and leaves.\n\nIdentify, evaluate, and prioritize automation opportunities based on technical feasibility, operational impact, and business value.\n\nDevelop and execute automation project plans, including resources, timelines, risk assessments, implementation, and training.\n\nLead activities related to Change Control, Design and Development, Design Verification & Validation, Engineering Studies, and Process Validation.\n\nProgram, troubleshoot, and improve PLCs, industrial robots, automated equipment, and test automation solutions.\n\nPartner with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Projects, OpEx, EHS, HR, Finance, R&D, and Marketing.\n\nCoordinate with suppliers during the development, commissioning, and validation of automation equipment.\n\nSupport continuous improvement, NPI, process transfers, capacity assessments, and engineering changes.\n\nStop processes when safety risks or quality defects are identified and escalate issues that may affect personnel, product quality, or regulatory compliance.\n\nDevelop technical documentation, protocols, reports, procedures, and training materials.\n\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related engineering field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.\nRequired Computer Skills\nAdvanced PLC programming: Allen Bradley, Beckhoff, and Omron.\n\nIndustrial robot programming: Epson and Fanuc.\n\nScripting and test automation.\n\n3D CAD modeling, simulations, and 2D drawing creation.\n\nMicrosoft Office Suite.\n\nFamiliarity with engineering and project documentation tools.\n\nKey Required Skills, Knowledge, And Capabilities\n5+ years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing engineering, or automation projects.\n\nFluent English and Spanish.\n\nStrong knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems.\n\nKnowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5.\n\nExperience with engineering protocols, technical reports, validation, and troubleshooting.\n\nLeadership, communication, teamwork, innovation, and structured problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with cross-functional teams.\n\nCustomer-focused mindset and flexibility in a manufacturing environment.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nProject management experience.\n\nAutomated process transfers and continuous improvement experience.\n\nMedical device manufacturing and quality systems experience.\n\nKnowledge of ISO 13485, CTPAT, and safety risk assessments.\n\nLean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Black Belt certification.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer: Dentsply Sirona is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
