Lead Technical Architect (Cloud API)

Job Description:

We areseekingan experienced and highly skilled Technical Architect to join our team and drive the architecture and development of robust middleware solutions within our web applications. As a pivotal part of our team, you will design and implement scalable, performant, and secure middleware architectures that seamlessly integrate with third-party systems, manage data flow acrossvarious services, and support the broader headless web application ecosystem.

In this role, you will work withcutting-edgetechnologies likeNode.js,GraphQL,TypeScript, andheadless CMS platformssuch asContentful, Sitecore,and Optimizelyto build modern, service-oriented architectures and microservices. You willbe responsible forensuring smooth integration with external systems likeSalesforce,Auth0, andEnterprise Data Platforms (EDPs), among others. You will also play a key role in shaping and delivering solutions on cloud platforms such asAWSorAzure.

This position requires someone with deepexpertisein middleware architecture, microservice design patterns, cloud technologies, and headless CMSs. You should have a proventrack recordof delivering complex technical solutions in a fast-paced environment and be able to work collaboratively across teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design,Architect, and ImplementMiddleware Solutions: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance middleware components for web applications, using modern technologies and patterns (e.g., microservices, service-oriented architecture).

• Integration with Third-Party Systems: Architect and develop integration layers with third-party systems, includingSalesforce,Auth0,EDPs, and other external services to ensure seamless data flow and interactions.

• Service-Oriented Architecture & Microservices: Implement and guide the development of service-oriented architectures and microservices, with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and flexibility.

• GraphQL& API Design: Design andoptimizeGraphQLschemas to create flexible and efficient APIs that enable frontend and backend systems to communicate seamlessly.

• Cloud Platform Expertise: Leverage cloud services (AWSorAzure) to design and deploy scalable solutions,utilizingcloud-native services for optimization and resilience.

• Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Collaborate with development teams across frontendandbackend to ensure alignment of middleware architecture with overall system architecture.Providetechnical guidance to engineersas needed over time.

• Performance & Optimization: Ensure the middleware services are optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and ensure high availability and fault tolerance.

• Security & Compliance: Ensure that middleware services adhere to industry standards for security, compliance, and data protection.

Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Proven experience in building complex middleware systems usingNode.js,GraphQL,TypeScript, and integration with headless CMS platforms likeContentful, Sitecore,Optimizely, or similar.

• Cloud Architecture: Strong experience with cloud platforms, particularlyAWS orAzure, and knowledge of cloud-native architectures, services, and deployment strategies.

• Microservices & SOA Expertise: In-depth experience in designing and implementingmicroservices and service-oriented architectures (SOA) with a focus on scalability and maintainability.

• API Design: Solid understanding ofGraphQL and traditional RESTful APIs, including performance tuning, optimization, and security best practices.

• Third-Party System Integration: Experience integrating with third-party systems such asSalesforce,Auth0,EDPs, and other external platforms.

• System Architecture & Design Patterns: Strong background in architectural patterns like Backend for Frontend (BFF),andevent-driven design.

• Leadership & Communication: Excellent leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Problem Solving & Innovation: Ability to tackle complex technical challenges and propose innovative solutions while balancing business needs with technical feasibility.

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degreeinComputer Science, Engineering, ora related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 yearsinan architecturalrole.

Preferred

• CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools and processes.

• Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and the ability to work in fast-paced, iterative environments.

• Experience withContentful, Sitecore, Optimizely, orsimilar headless CMSplatforms.

• Experience working with distributed and remote teams.

The annual salary range for this position is $113,000 - $158,750. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
