Part-time work will be considered for this position.\nOverview of position:\nThe K-8 Assistant 504 Coordinator provides support to students with 504 Service Agreements and will manage students with 504 plans. They will consult regularly with general education teachers, support staff, students, and families to ensure that each child successfully completes their instructional program.\nAdditionally, the K-8 Section 504 Coordinator will support the evaluation process and eligibility determination for 504 plans, develop 504 plans, and monitor the implementation of Section 504 plans.\nThe highly qualified candidate will work closely with other teachers and school staff to ensure the implementation of Section 504 procedures in the school’s public program and is successful and operating in compliance with federal and state regulations. This position involves a significant amount of adult-to-adult facing interactions, including a large number of in-person meetings with teachers, families, advocates, representatives of the authorizing district and peers from similar schools and organizations.\nThe strongest applicants will have a strong understanding of appropriate rules, protocols and policies; have the diplomacy and tact to work with highly dedicated individuals with multiple perspectives, and be able to ensure a healthy work/life balance.\nThis is an interim position that will only be available from September 2026 through April 2027. There may be an opportunity to extend the role, per school needs.\nPay and Benefits:\nEmployees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. This position is paid at a rate of $58,000 - $60,000. \nPlease note: The above salary represents full-time employment for a full school year. The DLS will prorate the Interim Assistant 504 Coordinator’s actual salary based on the number of days worked and whether or not the role is part-time. The daily rate for this role is $297-$307.\nEarly student release each Friday to offer opportunities for professional development and collaboration.\nDiscounted rates for after-school Fun Clubs of employees’ children.\nIndividualized coaching and support, as well as school-funded professional development.\nEmployees' children get priority in student enrollment, but there is no guarantee of enrollment due to seat availability.\nShort term disability insurance, term life insurance paid fully by the school.\nEssential Functions and Objectives\nManage and ensure effective 504 plan implementation for students on his/her caseload\nDevelop, write and help implement 504 plans\nCoordinates Section 504 referral process\nProvides notices and consents to families \nFacilitates evaluation/eligibility determination team meetings for Section 504\nSchedule, organize and conduct annual reviews, bi-annual, and tri-annual re-evaluations of each student with a Section 504 plan\nParticipate in the school’s Student Support Team across both campuses; support teachers to develop and implement program accommodations and strategies for struggling learners who may be eligible for 504 plan and/or special education services\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date data in the school’s Learning Management System for Section 504 students\nAssist with administering state testing and coordinate the accommodations that are required based on the 504 plan\nEffective communication with families, students, and district partners \nAttends regularly scheduled professional development and Section 504 training meetings\nDevelops and implements student interventions\nOther duties as assigned\nSkills\nExperience in writing 504 Eligibility and Accommodation Plans or Individual Education Plans\nKnowledge of IDEA disabilities\nKnowledge of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology in the school setting to address all of the above issues and be able to support teachers with implementation\nExperience with using diagnostic tools and approaches to determine the root of academic concerns and their link to appropriate intervention\nUnderstanding of student behavior and mental health issues and appropriate interventions\nExperience with inter-agency collaboration for mental health and behavioral support\nExperience and understanding of the foundations of functional behavior assessments to develop behavioral interventions for students grades K-12\nKnowledge in understanding in regard to school refusal related to truancy or mental health issues, and distinguishing between the two\nExperience and knowledge of tiered intervention programs for academic, behavioral, and truancy problems\nKnowledge of scientifically-based and research-validated intervention and instructional programs for reading, math, writing, and behavior management\nKnowledge and experience with data-driven instruction linked to scientifically-based and research-validated interventions\nExperience collaborating with parents to build truancy elimination plans\nDenver Language School is committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based on race, age, creed, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex, gender, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or pregnancy and will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
