The Medication Aide will also be responsible for resident’s personal care as described in the Resident Care Assistant (RCA) position description while not administering medications.\nThe pay range for this opportunity is $17.00 - $17.30 per hour.\nWhy work for DePaul?\nMake a positive difference in someone's life\nSupportive work environment\nWe value diversity\nOpportunity for professional development and career advancement\nExcellent benefits and competitive wages\nResponsibilities\nResponsibilities:\nAdministration of medication and treatment to residents timely, accurately and as prescribed by the physician.\nDocumentation of those medications and treatments as determined in the policy and procedures.\nObservation and documentation of response (therapeutic or adverse) to medications and treatments. \nMaintaining an organized, clean and secure medication cart and medication room.\nTimely ordering of medications and or supplies for availability to residents\nFollowing facility and pharmacy guidelines and policies in ordering, returning and discontinuing of medication orders.\nPreparation of medications for residents leaving the facility for extended periods of time, or arranging for the delivery of those medications from the pharmacy.\nAccurately processing physician orders and transcribing orders to the Medication Administration Record. \nDirectly accountable for the security of controlled substances and the accuracy of record keeping.\nPractices and maintains appropriate infection control techniques when preparing/administering medications and employs universal precautions at all times.\nPerforms resident care duties as described in the RCA position description in response to the needs of the resident or as assigned.\nParticipates in the required twelve (12) hours of medication in-service education.\nAssists in providing a therapeutic and homelike environment.\nEssential Functions:\nAbility to communicate with residents and others in the English language.\nAbility to read and write English.\nAbility to lift up to 30 lbs. without mechanical assistance. \nAbility to visually observe residents.\nAbility to audibly hear call bells, emergency systems, verbal needs expressed by residents.\nAbility to turn, stoop, bend, and stretch in order to assist residents.\nAbility to stand and walk for prolonged periods.\nAbility to manipulate equipment (sphygmomanometer, Accucheck, thermometer, etc.).\nAbility to recognize and respond to emergencies, e.g., evacuation of residents and visitors in the event of fire.\nAbility to push medication cart down hallway without assistance.\nQualifications\nMust Pass the Medication Technician training provided by DePaul within 90 days of Medication Skills Checklist. *The Medication Skills Checklist must be completed before passing any medication.\nMust possess a working knowledge of resident care, particularly with the geriatric and adult special care needs population.\nMust be at least Eighteen (18) years of age.\nMust have the required references and criminal record check.\nMust be in good standing with the Healthcare Personnel Registry.\nMust have the required annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Annual Health Assessment in accordance with New York State Regulations.\nDesired Qualities\n Warmth, understanding and responsiveness to residents and their demands and reactions.\nWarmth, understanding and responsiveness to residents and their demands and reactions.\nPositive feeling for families and visitors, exercising patience and tact.\nAbility to use initiative, judgment and resourcefulness and ability to make decisions.\nBenefits\nThis position is eligible for the following for the following benefits: Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Generous PTO & Paid Holidays, 403B with Employer Match, robust Employee Assistant Program, Staff Recognition Program and Employee Discount Program.\nDePaul is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity.
