Depending on experience and career level, responsibilities may range from application development and support to solution architecture, technical leadership, and platform strategy.\nKey Responsibilities\nApplication Development & Support\nDesign, develop, configure, test, and deploy Appian applications.\nBuild and maintain:Process Models\nAppian Interfaces (SAIL)\nRecord Types\nReports and Dashboards\nBusiness Rules and Expression Rules\nIntegration Objects\n\nParticipate in application enhancements, bug fixes, and production support activities.\nDevelop reusable components and adhere to development best practices.\nContribute to code reviews and quality assurance processes.\nSolution Design & Business Analysis\nCollaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.\nParticipate in solution design discussions and architecture reviews.\nAnalyze, document, and improve business processes through workflow automation.\nRecommend platform capabilities and best practices to optimize delivery.\nIntegration & Data Management\nDesign and implement integrations with enterprise systems using:REST APIs\nDatabases (SQL Server, MariaDB, Oracle, etc.)\nExternal applications and services\n\nDevelop and optimize data models and database queries.\nSupport secure and scalable data exchange across applications.\nAgile Delivery\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.\nWork closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Business Analysts.\nProvide effort estimates and technical inputs for projects and enhancements.\nSupport CI/CD and automated deployment practices where applicable.\nQuality, Governance & Production Support\nEnsure applications meet performance, security, and scalability standards.\nSupport testing, deployment validation, and release activities.\nTroubleshoot and resolve incidents, defects, and production issues.\nParticipate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.\nMaintain technical documentation and knowledge repositories.\nLeadership & Mentorship (Senior/Architect Levels)\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.\nReview solution designs and application architecture.\nDefine development standards, governance, and best practices.\nDrive platform adoption, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.\nRelevant experience in software development, BPM, workflow automation, or low-code platforms.\nSkills & Experience\nRequired\nExperience developing applications using the Appian platform.\nUnderstanding of BPM, workflow automation, and application lifecycle management.\nExperience with:Appian SAIL\nProcess Modeling\nRecord Types\nBusiness Rules & Expression Rules\nIntegration Objects\nData Management\n\nKnowledge of relational databases and SQL.\nExperience working in Agile/Scrum environments.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nPreferred\nExperience with Appian 22.x, 23.x, 24.x, or newer versions.\nExperience with Appian Administration and Cloud/on-prem deployments.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.\nExperience in Financial Services, Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, or other regulated industries.\nExposure to enterprise architecture, integration frameworks, and digital transformation initiatives.\nExperience Levels\nJunior Developer / Associate\n3 to 6 years of software development experience.\nHands-on Appian development experience with application delivery responsibilities.\nSenior Developer / Lead Developer\n6 to 10 years of software development experience.\nStrong Appian expertise with mentoring and technical leadership capabilities.\nSolution Architect\n10+ years of technology experience with significant Appian architecture and enterprise solution design expertise.\nExperience leading large-scale Appian implementations and platform strategy.\nActual salary is determined based on the role, location, individual experience, skills, and other considerations.
