You will design and develop scalable automated testing solutions across UI, API, and backend systems while applying software engineering principles to improve quality, reliability, and testability.\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on Java programmer who can independently write, debug, and maintain code and apply those development skills to build robust, scalable, and maintainable test automation solutions.\nYour Primary Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and maintain Java-based test automation frameworks and solutions across UI, API, and backend applications. \nWrite clean, reusable, and maintainable Java code using object-oriented programming principles and software engineering best practices. \nSolve programming and technical problems using Core Java, appropriate data structures, fundamental algorithms, and object-oriented design principles. \nDevelop automated tests using technologies such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, and Rest Assured. \nBuild scalable UI automation solutions using design patterns such as the Page Object Model (POM). \nDevelop API automation and validate RESTful services using Rest Assured or similar technologies. \nPerform backend and database validation using SQL, JDBC, and relational databases. \nDebug application and automation code to identify defects, test failures, and underlying root causes. \nDevelop and optimize complex SQL queries for data validation and backend testing. \nIntegrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using technologies such as Jenkins, CloudBees, Bitbucket, and Git. \nContribute to automated testing across integration, API, functional, regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing while partnering with developers to strengthen unit-test coverage. \nApply Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices where appropriate. \nCollaborate with software developers, product owners, and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle. \nParticipate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n**NOTE: The Primary Responsibilities of this role are not limited to the details above. **\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. \n5+ years of experience in Software Development Engineering in Test, test automation engineering, software development, or a related technical discipline. \nSignificant hands-on experience developing automation solutions and frameworks using Java.\nExperience testing complex enterprise applications across UI, API, and backend layers.\nTalent Needed for Success\nStrong hands-on Core Java programming skills, with the ability to independently write, debug, and explain Java code.\nStrong understanding and practical application of Core Java concepts, including: Object-oriented programming principles, including inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, and encapsulation\nCollections, data structures, and fundamental algorithms\nException handling\nStrings and common data-manipulation techniques\nStreams and Lambda expressions\nMultithreading and concurrency\nReusable and maintainable code design\n\nStrong programming and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply data structures and fundamental algorithms to practical coding challenges. \nHands-on experience designing, developing, and enhancing Java-based test automation frameworks, rather than solely executing or maintaining existing automated test suites. \nExperience with Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, or comparable Java-based automation technologies.\nStrong experience with API testing and automation using Rest Assured or similar technologies. \nExperience with Maven or Gradle and dependency management. \nStrong SQL skills with experience performing backend and data validation against relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, or Snowflake. \nExperience using JDBC or similar database connectivity technologies for backend data validation. \nExperience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and working with technologies such as Jenkins, CloudBees, Bitbucket, and Git. \nUnderstanding of TDD, BDD, and modern software testing practices. \nStrong debugging, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills. \nStrong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within an Agile development team.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with AWS or another cloud environment. \nFamiliarity with Docker and Kubernetes. \nExperience with performance testing tools such as JMeter. \nExperience working in Agile and DevOps environments. \nExperience supporting applications within financial services or another regulated enterprise environment.\nThe salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
