May include research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, or any other activities related to software products used internally or externally on product platforms supported by the firm. The software development process requires in-depth subject matter expertise in existing and emerging development methodologies, tools, and programming languages. Software Developers work closely with business partners and / or external clients in defining requirements and implementing solutions. The Software Engineering role specializes in planning, documenting technical requirements, designing, developing, and testing all software systems and applications for the firm. Works closely with architects, product managers, project management, and end-users in the development and enhancement of existing software systems and applications, proposing and recommending solutions that solve complex business problems.\nYour Primary Responsibilities:\nLead needed technical processes and designs considering reliability, data integrity, maintainability, reuse, extensibility, usability and scalability\nCollaborate with Infrastructure partners to identify and deploy optimal hosting environments\nDefine scalability and performance criteria for assigned applications\nWork closely with the team and serve as a technical lead to implement and support application services built on RESTful and event-driven architectures.\nWork with Java, Spring Boot, SQL, JDBC, Oracle/Postgres/ Snowflake, Kafka to architect and implement scalable, resilient, and secure distributed application services.\nWork with container platforms like OpenShift to design and deploy containerized applications\nWork with tools like Maven, Jenkins, Bitbucket, HashiCorp vault to manage continuous builds and deployments.\nEnsure application meets the performance, privacy, and security requirements\nTune application performance to eliminate and reduce issues\nVerify test plans to ensure compliance with performance and security requirements\nSupport business and technical presentations in relation to technology platforms and business solutions\nMitigate risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls\nHelp develop solutions that balance cost and delivery while meeting business requirements\nimplement technology-specific best practices that are consistent with corporate standards\nPartner with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of product strategy and project deliverables\nManage the software development process\nDrive new technical and business process improvements\nEstimate total costs of modules/projects covering both hours and expense\nResearch and evaluate specific technologies, and applications, and contributes to the solution design\nConstruct application Architecture encompassing end-to-end designs\nMitigates risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.\nQualifications:\nMinimum of 8 years of related experience\nBachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience\nTalents Needed for Success:\n8+ years of backend development experience in Java, Spring Boot,\nHands-on experience with message broker platforms like Kafka.\nHands-on with REST APIs and Kubernetes based container platforms.\nProficiency in object-oriented design patterns and programming techniques.\nFamiliarity with build, observability, and deployment tools - Splunk, Grafana, Maven, Jenkins, Dynatrace\nExperience working with large modular codebases and Mono repos for scalable code.\nFamiliarity with packaging and deploying back-end applications, preferably using Docker.\nExperience with troubleshooting and resolution of complex production incidents.\nProficient communication skills. \nManage and mentor a team of engineers across multiple geographies.\nDrive agile development practices, code reviews, support using modern code assistant tools like Amazon Q and technical excellence.\nCollaborate with multi-functional teams including QA, DevOps, and Product Management.\nCommunicates openly keeping everyone across the organization informed.\nThe salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
