We are seeking an experienced and licensed Psychologist to play a critical leadership role within our Accident Benefits Claims Division. In this unique opportunity, you will influence how psychological claims are managed across the organization by establishing evidence-based standards, improving clinical governance, and supporting complex claim decisions that impact recovery, return-to-work outcomes, and long-term claim exposure. More specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • Provide expert consultation on complex Accident Benefits claims involving psychological diagnoses, treatment, recovery, disability, and return to work.
  • Evaluate assessments, psychometric findings, treatment plans, and clinical opinions to support sound, defensible claim decisions.
  • Lead the development and governance of the national Mental Health Claims Framework, including standards, care pathways, referral criteria, escalation protocols, and decision tools.
  • Oversee quality and provider performance for psychological assessment and treatment services.
  • Identify emerging mental health trends, risks, and recovery barriers, and recommend appropriate responses.
  • Partner with Claims, Medical Services, Legal, Rehabilitation, and senior leaders to improve outcomes and manage operational, litigation, and financial risk.
  • Build internal capability through training, coaching, and support for Alberta's Care-First model.
  • Drive continuous improvement in treatment quality, claim duration, operational effectiveness, and portfolio performance.
