More specifically, you will be responsible to:\nProvide expert consultation on complex Accident Benefits claims involving psychological diagnoses, treatment, recovery, disability, and return to work. \nEvaluate assessments, psychometric findings, treatment plans, and clinical opinions to support sound, defensible claim decisions. \nLead the development and governance of the national Mental Health Claims Framework, including standards, care pathways, referral criteria, escalation protocols, and decision tools. \nOversee quality and provider performance for psychological assessment and treatment services. \nIdentify emerging mental health trends, risks, and recovery barriers, and recommend appropriate responses. \nPartner with Claims, Medical Services, Legal, Rehabilitation, and senior leaders to improve outcomes and manage operational, litigation, and financial risk. \nBuild internal capability through training, coaching, and support for Alberta's Care-First model. \nDrive continuous improvement in treatment quality, claim duration, operational effectiveness, and portfolio performance. \nWhat we offer*\nCompetitive salary and annual bonus\n4 weeks of flexible vacation starting in the first year\nDefined benefit pension plan that provides predictable, stable income throughout retirement\nGroup insurance including telemedicine\nReimbursement of health and wellness expenses and telework equipment\n*Benefits apply based on eligibility criteria.\n#LI-Hybrid, #ON10*\nWhat you bring to the table\nMaster's or graduate degree (PhD) in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, or a related field\nA minimum of seven years of progressive experience as a licensed psychologist, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and case consultation* \nAn equivalent combination of education, regulated clinical expertise, and relevant insurance, disability management, rehabilitation, healthcare, or occupational health experience may be considered\nExperience in independently assessing, diagnosing, and treating psychological conditions within their jurisdiction of practice\nExperience working in an insurance claims environment\nAdvanced experience conducting and interpreting psychometric testing and psychological assessments\nAdvanced experience reviewing and critiquing psychological reports and treatment plans\nAdvanced experience providing expert opinions and consultation in matters involving disability, rehabilitation, insurance, workers' compensation, personal injury, or accident benefits\nExperience within the property and casualty insurance industry, Accident Benefits, disability management, workers' compensation, legal, rehabilitation, or healthcare sectors\nExperience in influencing decision-making across multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership groups\nAdvanced experience developing policies, standards, frameworks, and evidence-based clinical guidelines\nRegistered and in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory body (e.g., College of Psychologists of Ontario or equivalent Canadian regulatory authority)\nAdditional training or certification in occupational health, disability management, rehabilitation, trauma, chronic pain, or return-to-work programs \nAdvanced understanding of psychological factors affecting recovery, disability duration, functional impairment, return to work, and treatment outcomes\nDemonstrated expertise in leading organizational change, process improvement, and capability-building initiatives\nAdvanced understanding of emerging mental health trends, best practices, and industry developments\nKnowledge of Accident Benefits legislation, insurance regulations, medical-legal processes, and dispute resolution frameworks\nAction oriented, Customer Focus, Differences, Interpersonal Savvy, Nimble learning, Strategic mindsetEquity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility\nAt Desjardins, we believe in equity, diversity and inclusion.
