The person in this role ensures production of the required products on time, to the exact quality and quantity levels in the most efficient manner possible while maintaining a safe work environment. In the absence of the Assistant Focus Area Manager (AFAM), the position holder will represent the department fulfilling all aspects of the position toward accomplishing the goals of the company. The position allows for management to view the team member’s performance in accordance with succession planning guidelines developed by Human Resources. The position holder commits to “never ending improvement” and is responsible for the quality and the work of coworkers. The position carries the responsibility for the quality of the company and its products.\nMain Tasks \nEnsure timely and accurate completion of procedural forms, i.e. change of status, job award process, payroll processing, and vacation.\nEquitable assignment of overtime based on business needs.\nProvide corrective counseling as appropriate.\nManage time and attendance functions for associate hours worked.\nProvide weekly vacation planning schedule and respond to all requests within 48 hours.\nEnsure timely and accurate investigation reporting.\nPerform daily production and downtime reporting per department standard.\nRoutine review of production boards.\nEffective communication with all levels of management.\nProvide required written documentation as required.\nFollow downtime notification system, to include but not limited to the submission of open work orders.\nAdherence to ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.\nResponsible for production of products to design specification.\nAdherence to QAP guidelines.\nAttain internal and external PPM targets.\nFulfill the requirements of internal and external product containments.\nAttain department spending targets.\nAttain department productivity and efficiency targets.\nAttain department overtime targets.\nAttain department changeover targets.\nMaintain standard crew sizes to obtain production targets.\nSecondary Tasks\nPerform associate performance review through 30/60/90 day and annual evaluations.\nActively participate in quality investigations through 8D teams.\nEnsure timely dispositioning (within 24 hours) of nonconforming material.\nUtilization of proper quality documentation.\nRespond to internal audit findings in a timely manner.\nEnsure utilization of Statistical Process Control as required.\nResponsible for schedule compliance.\nReview suggestions from the respective shift.\nProvide labor improvement initiatives.\nProvide process improvement initiatives.\nManage projects to a successful completion within schedule and cost parameters.\nAssist in meeting cost reduction and quality improvement objectives.\nAllocate labor based on unexpected changes in operations.\nProvide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to team members as needed.\nAdherence to lock-out / tag-out procedures.\nEnsure the equipment is operating to process parameters.\nEnsure machine cycle times are to standard.\nReview of downtime trends and recommend improvement.\nMaintain material identification in accordance to internal quality standards.\nAssure production tooling and supplies are present at desired levels.\nResponsible for attaining external customer delivery metrics. \nWill be partly responsible for the spending of over $4M dollars in MRO each year.\nAdherence to safety procedures and policies.\nMaintenance of First Aid and CPR certifications.\nLead in accident investigations.\nComply with company scheduled training sessions.\nEnsure adherence to evacuation procedure and account for all team members at marshalling area.\nMaintain company safety metrics.\nEnsure team member adherence to standardized work.\nEnsure the team members run according to schedule (oldest work order).\nAssessment of departmental skill level and development of cross training plan for team member development.\nProvide guidance to leads to maintain company objectives.\nWill have access to confidential team member information.\nWill have access to confidential company information regarding costs, processes, and procedures, that if shared could have a significant effect of the profitability of the organization.\nRecommends disciplinary actions and hires team members in cooperation with management.\nEducation, Training, Certifications\nCollege degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent combination of training, education and manufacturing experience required.\nExperience\nOne to five years supervisory experience preferred.\nExperience working with Lean Manufacturing and/or in high volume manufacturing preferred.\nExperience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment preferred.\nMust be able to work in an environment of continuous change. The evolution of this department will be dependent on a growing customer base and the individual needs of the customer.
