As Chief Technology Officer for CFO CIO (Finance Technology), you will shape the technology strategy and technical direction for one of the Bank’s most critical functions. Working closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for CFO, you will connect Finance priorities with enterprise technology strategy, translating complex business, regulatory and control needs into scalable, secure and interoperable platforms.

You will partner with senior Finance leaders and colleagues across Technology, Data & Innovation to align investment, architecture and delivery. This is a high-impact opportunity to modernise the Finance technology estate, accelerate responsible adoption of emerging technologies and strengthen engineering excellence.

Your key responsibilities

• Partnering with the CIO for CFO and Head of Architecture to define and articulate the Finance technology strategy, aligning it to Finance priorities and the enterprise technology and architecture framework

• Leading the assessment and responsible adoption of emerging technologies, identifying where they can improve control, resilience, productivity, data quality and business outcomes. Shape technology investment decisions through evidence-based evaluation of value, risk and total cost of ownership, including build, buy, reuse and software-as-a-service choices

• Influencing and aligning cross-domain architecture decisions impacting CFO functions within the broader front-to-back target architecture through collaboration and partnership with wider architects community

• Owning architectural governance across CFO technology, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and interoperable, and comply with internal standards and external obligations, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act

• Working with senior Finance stakeholders and across Technology, Data & Innovation to align business-led initiatives, resolve cross-functional dependencies and present clear recommendations to executive forums

• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs

Your skills and experience

• Software engineering and technology leadership experience, with evidence of delivering complex, large-scale software platforms and transformation programmes in a global organisation

• Demonstrated ability to set technology strategy and translate business outcomes into pragmatic target architectures, roadmaps and investment choices. Strong knowledge of modern software architecture, cloud and data platforms, application security, resilience, integration patterns and engineering lifecycle practices

• Commercial judgement and experience evaluating return on technology investment, total cost of ownership, vendor solutions and build-versus-buy decisions

• Excellent presentation, influencing and communication skills, with the credibility to work with senior business and technology leaders and explain complex technical choices clearly

• Experience in financial services, Finance technology, regulated environments or architecture functions, with awareness of relevant financial regulation and operational resilience expectations
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs
