Working across business and technology functions, the CTO Office enables the delivery of scalable, secure and efficient technology solutions that support DWS's strategic objectives, operational effectiveness and long-term growth.\nThe Solution & Data Architecture team shape the architecture standards, patterns, and guidance that enable delivery teams to build scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions. They work closely with Domain Architects, Security specialists, Data SMEs, platform teams, and delivery squads to ensure that solutions are aligned with DWS strategy, architecture principles, and policy requirements.\nThe team supports delivery from early requirements shaping through to solution design, design governance, and implementation support. This includes defining data ingestion, transformation, and consumption approaches, designing application and service architectures, and contributing reusable patterns, decision trees, and architecture decision records. The team also explores emerging technologies and develop practical guidance to continuously improve the DWS technology landscape.\nYour responsibilities\nAs a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for:\nTranslate functional and non-functional requirements into solution designs, building blocks, services, data pipelines, integrations, and user-facing components.\n\nOwn and drive end-to-end solution design, ensuring alignment with DWS architecture principles, technology strategy, security requirements, and design governance.\n\nWork closely with data architects to define effective approaches for data ingestion, transformation, management, and consumption.\n\nGuide and coach engineering teams during implementation to ensure designs are understood, practical, and delivered as intended.\n\nCollaborate with Domain Architects and fellow Solution and Data Architects to create architecture decision records, reusable patterns, and practical guidance for recurring design challenges.\n\nSupport delivery teams in presenting and defending solution designs through relevant architecture and design authorities.\n\nEvaluate, prototype, and assess new technologies, deriving practical usage patterns that help modernize and continuously improve the DWS technology estate.\n\nWe are looking for :\nDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nTypically 5+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or a comparable technology role.\n\nStrong understanding of modern application architecture, distributed systems, APIs, integration patterns, and cloud-native design principles.\n\nExperience in designing and building or integrating with ABAC or RBAC controls or systems (IAM)\n\nStrong Java experience, including the Java ecosystem, Spring Boot, J2EE/Jakarta EE, and modern JDKs.\n\nAbility to break down complex problems into clear, actionable, and implementable solution components.\n\nExperience working with engineers, product teams, business stakeholders, and architecture or governance forums.\n\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nExperience in financial services, asset management, or another regulated environment.\n\nExperience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.\n\nExperience with .NET, TypeScript, Python, or modern front-end and service development approaches.\n\nUnderstanding of data architecture, data pipelines, data governance, and data consumption patterns.\n\nExperience with TOGAF, SAFe, or comparable architecture and delivery frameworks.\n\nExperience defining reusable architecture patterns, decision trees, architecture decision records, and design standards.\n\nCuriosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with the ability to assess their practical relevance for enterprise adoption.\n\nConfident conversational and professional proficiency (B2)-you can comfortably negotiate, present, and collaborate with German-speaking clients.\n\nProven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.\n\nPosting Period: 08.09.2026 until further notice\nWhat we’ll offer you:\nWithout the ambitions of our people, our achievements wouldn’t be possible.
