The selected candidate must also be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability.\nDev Technology is seeking a highly motivated Software Developer to join our growing team in developing, deploying, maintaining, and modernizing mission-critical applications for a DHS customer.\nThe successful candidate will contribute to new development, system reengineering, and application enhancement efforts in an Agile and DevOps environment. This position requires strong Java development experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to collaborate with users, customers, and other developers to transform requirements into effective working solutions.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nDevelop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications using Java and related technologies.\nProvide technical support and guidance throughout the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases.\nWork with users and stakeholders to define system scope, objectives, and technical requirements.\nContribute to application architecture, system design, and technical design decisions.\nSupport new development and system reengineering efforts.\nDesign and develop system-level changes and enhancements.\nImplement enhancements to existing applications while coordinating with developers working in parallel.\nPerform quality assurance, testing, and test-driven development activities.\nReview modifications to existing systems for compatibility across applications and environments.\nPerform database programming and support system design activities.\nUse DevOps and software configuration management tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven.\nSupport automated code scanning, automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment practices.\nWork within a cloud-based development environment.\nUse Jira to support Agile delivery and configuration management activities.\nInterface with the customer on technical requirements and design decisions.\nCommunicate effectively, apply critical thinking, and maintain a results-oriented approach.\nFollow Scrum and Agile software development lifecycle practices.\nRequired Education, Experience, and Skills\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.\nFive or more years of software development experience.\nExperience developing applications with Java and related technology ecosystems.\nExperience with Java Web Services, Spring Boot, or Java EE.\nFamiliarity with software development and DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven.\nExperience working in an Agile development environment.\nExperience supporting application development, deployment, and maintenance.\nAbility to contribute to system design and translate requirements into working software solutions.\nStrong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including professional fluency in English.\nPreferred Education, Experience, and Skills\nExperience with automated code scanning and automated software testing.\nUnderstanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment concepts.\nExperience using Jira in an Agile development and configuration management environment.\nExperience with GitLab or GitHub.\nExperience with database programming and system design.\nExperience designing and developing system-level changes.\nExperience working directly with customers on technical requirements and solution design.\nExperience with test-driven development.\nExperience working in a cloud environment.\nDemonstrated ability to independently learn new technologies and remain current with modern software development practices.\nExperience reviewing system modifications for cross-compatibility.\nExperience working within Scrum or another Agile software development framework.\nGovernment contracting or DHS experience.\nCompensation\nOur estimated salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000. The presented salary range is not a guarantee of compensation. The offered salary will be based on education, experience, geographic location, and applicable contractual requirements.
