The successful candidate will be part of a team designing and inspecting both simple and complex transit and freight rail bridges (primarily of steel and concrete construction) and a variety of transportation-related structures (retaining walls, culverts, and other miscellaneous structures). The candidate will also be involved in the development of contract plans, the preparation of engineer's estimates and construction specifications, and performing construction support services. The individual will also be provided with opportunities to participate in marketing and business development activities including attending seminars and conferences, networking events, and/or career fairs. Our commitment to excellence stems from our personal integrity and from other defining attributes, which we call “Dewberry at Work,” that have inspired our employees to be successful for more than a half-century.\nResponsibilities\nWork with a team of engineers on transit and freight rail projects.\nPerform structural analysis, design, load ratings and construction support tasks.\nDesign rail bridges and other transportation related structures per AREMA and agency standards.\nPrepare structural plans, construction cost estimates, and engineer’s estimate.\nPerform field investigations under qualified inspectors.\nRequired Skills & Required Experience\nB.S. in Civil Engineering required (MS or MEng in Structural Engineering preferable).\n0 - 4 years of experience in Structural, Rail or Civil Engineering.\nSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is preferred.\nPrior internship or summer work experience preferred.\nFamiliarity with AREMA Manual for Railway Engineering is preferred but not required.\nUnderstanding of structural engineering fundamentals.\nProficiency in MS Office software, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with interest in improving technical knowledge.\nPhysically capable of performing field work including working at heights, over water, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.\nWilling to travel locally and regionally.\nA desire to work in a team environment \nDon’t meet every single requirement?
