The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.\nMeet the team:\nDexcom’s legal team is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced attorney to serve as Lead Legal Counsel. Reporting to the Sr Manager Legal Counsel, this role will provide strategic legal support for Dexcom’s venture and other complex commercial and strategic transactions. You will work closely with business leaders, cross-functional stakeholders, other members of the Legal team, and external partners to structure, draft, and negotiate sophisticated agreements, often under tight timelines and across multiple concurrent matters.\nWhere you come in:\nYou provide strategic, practical, and business-oriented legal advice on venture investments, strategic collaborations, and other complex commercial transactions.\nYou lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of sophisticated agreements, including investment, collaboration, licensing, development, commercialization, and other strategic transaction documents.\nYou manage transactions from initial structuring through execution and implementation, coordinating legal workstreams, due diligence, approvals, and closing deliverables.\nYou partner effectively with multiple stakeholders across the organization, including business development, finance, tax, accounting, regulatory, privacy, intellectual property, compliance, and other functions.\nYou identify and communicate legal and business risks clearly, develop pragmatic solutions, and help the business make informed decisions while advancing strategic objectives.\nYou manage multiple complex matters simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality work under tight and shifting timelines.\nYou build trusted relationships with business partners and external counterparties and manage outside counsel efficiently, as needed.\nWhat makes you successful:\nYou hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.\nYou are an active member in good standing of the California State Bar or are eligible to register as in-house counsel in California.\nYou have a minimum of 8+ years of relevant transactional legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department, with meaningful experience supporting venture investments and strategic transactions.\nYou have a strong track record drafting and negotiating complex agreements and translating sophisticated legal issues into clear, practical advice.\nYou are comfortable advising senior business leaders and collaborating with multiple legal and cross-functional stakeholders with differing priorities.\nYou are highly organized and able to multitask, exercise sound judgment, and independently manage multiple high-priority matters under tight timelines.\nYou are a collaborative, responsive, and solutions-oriented partner who builds trust with the business and works effectively as part of a team.\nYou demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation, and project-management skills, with close attention to detail.\nPrior in-house experience is preferred.\nYou are able to work in person in the San Diego office as required; residence within 75 miles is strongly preferred.\nYou have a minimum of 8 years of related corporate commercial law experience at top-tier law firm and/or in house (preferred).\nYou must be comfortable presenting to, counseling, and interacting with executives and business leaders.\nYou are recognized as an expert in your field within the organization.\nYou are committed to teamwork and maintaining strong relationships and lines of communication with business partners and other key stakeholders across the organization.\nYou have excellent decision-making skills, practical business judgement, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.\nYou are able to work in person in the San Diego office as required, local within 75 miles is strongly preferred.\nWhat you’ll get:\nA front row seat to life changing CGM technology.
