facilities operations and workplace management at our Redwood City headquarters.\nReporting to Jag Setlur, this role will be responsible for developing and managing facility operations, overseeing external service providers, managing facilities budgets, and ensuring a safe, functional, and efficient workplace that supports our engineering, robotics, and business teams.\nThe ideal candidate is a proactive, resourceful professional who can independently evaluate facility needs, establish operational priorities, manage vendor relationships, and recommend improvements that support Dexterity's business objectives.\nThis is an individual-contributor management position with significant ownership of facility operations and cross-functional coordination.\nWhat You'll Do\nFacilities Management & Planning\nDevelop and oversee facility operations, maintenance programs, and workplace services for the Redwood City location.\n\nEstablish facility operating priorities, preventive maintenance schedules, and service standards.\n\nEvaluate facility needs and recommend improvements to building infrastructure, workspace utilization, and operational efficiency.\n\nPlan and coordinate facility improvement projects, workspace modifications, and equipment installations in partnership with internal stakeholders.\n\nServe as the primary point of contact for property management, facility service providers, and building-related matters.\n\nEvaluate facility risks, service interruptions, and operational issues, determining appropriate corrective actions and escalation when necessary.\n\nVendor & Contract Management\nManage external vendors and contractors responsible for building maintenance, janitorial services, security systems, waste management, and other facility services.\n\nEvaluate vendor proposals, negotiate service terms within delegated authority, and make recommendations on vendor selection and contract renewals.\n\nEstablish vendor performance expectations and monitor service quality, responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness.\n\nReview facility service agreements, invoices, and recurring expenses to ensure alignment with approved budgets and business needs.\n\nIdentify opportunities to consolidate services, improve vendor performance, and reduce operating costs.\n\nBudget & Operational Oversight\nDevelop and manage the annual facilities operating budget in partnership with Finance and leadership.\n\nMonitor facilities expenditures, forecast upcoming costs, and recommend spending priorities.\n\nEvaluate the financial and operational impact of facility projects, service agreements, and capital improvement proposals.\n\nMaintain appropriate documentation, service records, and facility-related contracts.\n\nProvide leadership with updates on facility performance, operational risks, expenses, and recommended improvements.\n\nSafety, Security & Compliance Coordination\nPartner with HR, Engineering, Operations, and designated safety personnel to support workplace safety and facility-related compliance requirements.\n\nOversee coordination of building inspections, fire and life safety services, emergency preparedness activities, and facility-related corrective actions.\n\nEvaluate facility-related safety concerns and coordinate appropriate solutions with qualified service providers and internal stakeholders.\n\nOversee the administration of physical building access and security service providers in coordination with IT and other designated teams.\n\nMaintain facility-related inspection records, permits, and documentation as applicable.\n\nWorkplace Operations & Cross-Functional Support\nPartner with HR, IT, Engineering, and Operations to plan workspace requirements and support business needs.\n\nOversee office space allocation, seating arrangements, and workplace improvement initiatives.\n\nCoordinate facility requirements for engineering labs, testing environments, and equipment installations with the appropriate technical teams.\n\nEstablish processes for managing facility service requests and monitoring resolution.\n\nRecommend workplace improvements that support employee productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n5+ years of progressive experience in facilities management, corporate workplace operations, or commercial building operations.\n\nExperience independently managing facility operations, vendors, budgets, and improvement projects.\n\nStrong understanding of commercial building systems, preventive maintenance programs, and facility management practices.\n\nDemonstrated ability to evaluate operational needs, exercise independent judgment, and recommend practical business solutions.\n\nExperience managing vendor contracts, service agreements, and facility-related expenditures.\n\nWorking knowledge of workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and applicable building and facility regulations.\n\nStrong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to work independently, establish priorities, and manage competing business needs.\n\nExcellent communication skills and experience partnering with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.\n\nProficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and facilities management or work-order systems.\n\nAbility to work on-site in Redwood City.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience supporting technology, robotics, hardware engineering, manufacturing, or R&D facilities.\n\nExperience managing facilities in a small to midsize organization.\n\nExperience coordinating engineering lab environments, testing areas, or specialized equipment installations.\n\nFamiliarity with California workplace safety requirements and commercial building regulations.\n\nExperience managing facility improvement projects, office relocations, or workspace optimization initiatives.\n\nBachelor's degree in Facilities Management, scalable.\n\nCompensation\nThe anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000-$150,000 annually.
