Involved in preparing the dinner menu, the Second Cook is responsible for all starch and vegetable items required for the menu. The Second Cook will work with the First Cook to ensure that all product meets quality standards as set out by Culinary leadership.\nThe position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:\nAll meals and accommodations are provided \nTravel is provided to and from Edmonton Airport\nPrivate room with cable television \nAccess to Wi-Fi \nAccess to laundry facilities and detergents \nAccess to a gym and common areas \nWorking Conditions:\nRemote camp environment with extended periods away from home (3 weeks on/3 weeks off) \nExtreme weather conditions are common in Nunavut \nExtended periods of darkness/no sunshine this time of year \nKey responsibilities include:\nMeet daily with the First Cook to discuss menu preparation and production strategy \nAssist the First Cook in the preparation of all menu items as needed \nFollow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications \nCan be responsible for preparing and serving hot breakfast \nReplenish desserts and condiment stations as required \nAssist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen and serving areas\nCan be responsible for assisting with baking \nPractice correct food handling guidelines and storage procedures\n WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?\nLarge-scale cooking in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset\nCurrent Food Safe certification is required \nAbility to commit to a 3 week on/3 week off rotation (or similar)\nA team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction \nMust have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site \nMust be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol and Health Assessment test\nMust be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check\nAbility to handle the following physical demands:Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs \nClimb ladders or stairs \nStand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time \nPerform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands\nPerform work with arms at full length \nWork with arms above shoulder height\n\n WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?\nEnjoy excellent work-life balance with a 3 week on/3 week off rotation (or similar)\nAbility to expand skills in a large camp atmosphere \nWhereas other companies are downsizing, we are growing!\nBe #1 on day 1 by joining an industry leader\nWork schedule and remuneration:\n2nd Cooks work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/3 weeks off (or similar).
