Work That Matters, People Who Care.\n WHAT’S THE JOB?\nAs a Baker, you will delight our clients by preparing and baking goods to the highest standards of Dexterra.\nThis position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol and fit to work testing as a condition of employment.\nThe position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:\nAll meals and accommodations are provided \nTravel is provided to and from Edmonton Airport\nPrivate room with cable television \nAccess to Wi-Fi \nAccess to laundry facilities and detergents \nAccess to a gym and common areas \nKey responsibilities include:\nSupervising night shift employees; providing mentorship and training\nIdentify areas of improvement on the overall operation as necessary\nPreparing and baking goods from scratch\nRestocking pastry shelves and maintaining a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods\nCreating and following menus to ensure quality of baked goods and desserts\nEnsuring consistent quality standard in over-all food preparation as per clients’ requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints\nComplying with food hygiene regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act\nCleaning, washing, and sanitizing equipment and over-all work areas\nWorking Conditions:\nProject-based role with primary work in Nunavut, flexibility for remote work when not on-site.\nAbility to work long shifts and rotational schedules (e.g., 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off or similar).\nEndurance to function effectively in remote northern climates, including extreme cold, wind, or lack of daylight during specific periods.\nResilience under isolation conditions-long periods away from home with limited external contact.\nFly-in/fly-out arrangement; shared accommodations and meals provided while on-site.\nExtended periods away from home with possible weather-related travel delays.\nMust comply with all company and client health, safety, and operational standards.\n WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?\nFoodSafe Level I is a minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.\nMinimum 3 years’ baking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment\nProven experience preparing baked goods for large number of guests\nPrior supervisory experience\n Ability to pass the Drug and Alcohol and Health Assessment is required\nMust be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check\nAbility to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 35 pounds\nSuccessful candidates MUST obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).\n WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?\nCompetitive compensation package\nYou will receive competitive medical and dental benefits upon day of hire PLUS $500 annual Wellness Benefit AND $500 annual Health Spending Account\nAdvancement opportunities \nWork schedule and remuneration:\nBakers work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off. Site location is in a remote camp setting in Nunavut. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays.
