Dexterra - Chi Mino Ozhitoowin (CMO) Joint Venture Partnership:

Dexterra is partnered with Chi Mino Ozhitoowin (CMO) to provide an essential spectrum of camp, catering and infrastructure services to the Waasigan Transmission Line Project. CMO LP is owned by Eagle Lake, Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation (formerly Lac La Croix First Nation), Fort William, Wabigoon, Seine River, Lac Seul and Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nations and Ojibway Nation of Saugeen. This partnership is rooted in the shared values of cultural preservation, community well-being and sustainable development and aims to harness the opportunities presented by the Waasigan Project. Through mutual understanding and collaboration we aim to support social-economic growth by offering meaningful employment and economic benefits for partner communities and individuals.

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Housekeepers are a vital asset to our team and play an integral role in ensuring the cleanliness of rooms and dorms throughout the site. The Lead Housekeeper works with the Camp Manager and to follow the company standards for quality and site cleanliness. Being out on the floor, visible and available to coach and mentor the group is vital for the success team.

The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:

  • All meals and accommodations are provided
  • Travel is provided to and from the site locations from designated locations in the Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Dryden and surrounding area
  • Private room with cable television
  • Access to Wi-Fi
  • Access to laundry facilities and detergents
  • Access to a gym and common areas

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support and supervise the housekeeping and janitorial teams
  • Train new employees using the provided new employee package (Greenhands and Checklists)
  • Conduct initial training of JSA’s with new hires and ensure these are reviewed by the team semi-annually
  • Work closely with the front desk associates, ensuring discrepancies and necessary changes are communicated immediately
  • Work with the management team to assign the housekeepers daily workloads, using the provided distribution template. Fair and even distribution of the workload is key.
  • Prepare the clipboards and keys for the housekeepers prior to the toolbox meeting. Ensure DWB’s and FLRA’s are provided to each member of the team and are checked throughout the day for accuracy
  • Be out on the floor, working alongside the housekeepers and janitors individually and provide them with coaching and feedback
  • On heavy days, completing partial/full workloads will be required of the lead
  • Perform daily FTQ audits (housekeeping and janitorial), ensuring all audits for the week have been completed by Saturday
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times
  • Follow all safety controls related to Covid including regular handwashing, proper use of PPE and enhanced cleaning/sanitation requirements and coach the team on the same
  • Assist with any other tasks as assigned by the camp manager

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Related experience in remote lodge setting or hotel/institutional environment; commercial cleaning is considered an asset
  • Current First Aid certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment and products
  • A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
  • Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site
  • Must have the ability to complete a Criminal Background Check
  • Ability to handle the following physical demands:
    • Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
    • Climb ladders or stairs
    • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
    • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
    • Perform work with arms at full length
    • Work with arms above shoulder height

Work schedule and remuneration:

Lead Housekeepers work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/3 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an daily basis with a starting rate of $260 per day.
