{"id":1884396,"url":"https://alion.io/job/dfcugroup-financial-data-modeler","title":"Financial & Data Modeler","company":{"id":3182104,"name":"dfcugroup","domain":"dfcugroup.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/dfcugroup","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":null,"truth_index":null},"role":"Enterprise Apps","role_family":"Enterprise Apps","seniority":null,"employment_type":null,"work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Uganda"],"countries":["UG"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"Machine Learning","optional":false},{"name":"Python","optional":false},{"name":"SQL","optional":false},{"name":"Visual Basic","optional":false}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-09-03T07:23:27Z","employer_posted_date":null,"last_verified_at":"2026-09-03T07:23:27Z","board_verified":false,"closed_at":null,"days_open":33,"trust":{"level":"not_scored","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":33},"description":"Reporting to the Head of Data & Insights, the role is responsible for developing financial models to support business strategy and improve decision-making accuracy, as well as sustaining the models in adherence to the Model governance framework.\n\nDuty Station: Head Office\n\nKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:\n\nDesign/develop/validate/deliver/review/maintain and enhance financial models in the following risk areas, Credit risk (e.g., AIRB, IFRS 9, Early warning, and credit scoring models), Market risk (e.g., VAR (Value at Risk), EAR (Earnings at Risk) models), Operational risk, Price risk (e.g., Risk based pricing models) and Liquidity risk based on industry best practices.\n\nSupport and work collaboratively with other quantitative and analytical areas such as forecasting and stress testing, customer behaviour modelling, and new innovations such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.\n\nTrain end users to ensure that they are well equipped to run and make strategic decisions from model outputs.\n\nPrepare and Communicate model development documents (e.g., Model development plans, Model development technical documents and User guides) to key stakeholders.\n\nEnsure adherence to the model development policy, data governance framework, policies, and procedures.\n\nEnsure financial models adhere to the defined and agreed service level agreements (SLAs).\n\nKeep up to date with the latest technical developments within financial modelling and engineering and making sure that changes to the industry’s best practice are adopted project team.\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:\n\nBachelor of Science or master’s degree in Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Quantitative Economics/Econometric.\n\nProfessional qualification in such as (FRM, CFA, ACCA) is an added advantage.\n\nOther qualifications, certifications, or professional memberships that relate to financial engineering, financial modelling, data Analytics, Machine Learning and Data Governance.\n\nOne to two years of relevant experience in Credit Risk, Market Risk model development or model validation/vetting team at a major Financial institution.\n\nKnowledge of Financial products and their modelling and calibration in both risk–neutral and real world across a wide range of products.\n\nCreativity in problem solving.\n\nExcellent Mathematical and Statistical skills.\n\nSolid knowledge of common practices in credit risk, marker risk and operational risk, including (PD, LGD, EAD, VAR, LDA, Economic Capital) methodologies.\n\nSolid programming skills (e.g., Python/R, SQL, Visual Basic).
