That’s how we’re building the future of manufacturing.\n\nJOB OVERVIEW\n\nWe’re looking for a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our team and help build software systems behind real-world manufacturing automation projects.\n\nThis is a paid full-time internship position.\n\nYou’ll work on software that connects backend services, robotics, industrial equipment, and operator-facing applications.\n\nA central part of your role will be learning how to program industrial robots, alongside developing the software systems that control and coordinate manufacturing processes.\n\nThis is a fully on-site position. You’ll work directly alongside software, robotics, controls, and mechanical engineers, with hands-on access to industrial robots and automation equipment. Being physically present is an important part of the role, enabling close collaboration, practical learning, and real-world testing.\n\nThis is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll learn from experienced engineers while contributing to real production systems. We’re not expecting you to know everything from day one. We’re looking for people with solid programming fundamentals, curiosity, and the motivation to develop their engineering skills.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\nYou’ll start with smaller, well-defined tasks and receive guidance and mentorship. Our goal is to help successful interns develop the skills needed to transition into a full-time Junior Software Engineer position.\n\nLearn to program industrial robots, developing and improving robotic operations for real manufacturing automation projects\n\nDevelop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI\n\nImplement new features, fix bugs, and improve existing software systems\n\nHelp develop software for manufacturing execution, robotics orchestration, and automation workflows\n\nWork with databases such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL\n\nIntegrate backend services with frontend applications, robotic systems, and industrial equipment\n\nLearn and work with REST APIs, asynchronous processing, and message-based communication\n\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested code\n\nParticipate in code reviews and technical discussions\n\nInvestigate bugs and troubleshoot software issues with guidance from experienced engineers\n\nCollaborate with software, robotics, controls, and mechanical engineers\n\nGradually take responsibility for increasingly complex development tasks\n\nREQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS\n\nRequired:\n\nNo previous professional experience is required.\n\nBasic programming knowledge, including familiarity with fundamental concepts such as variables, functions, data structures, and control flow\n\nSome experience with Python or another general-purpose programming language, gained through university, personal projects, or professional work\n\nBasic understanding of object-oriented programming\n\nAbility to approach problems logically and debug code\n\nCuriosity about robotics, automation, and how software interacts with physical systems\n\nWillingness to learn new technologies and continuously develop your engineering skills\n\nGood communication skills and ability to work collaboratively\n\nGood command of English\n\nNice to Have:\n\nExperience with Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django\n\nFamiliarity with REST APIs and client-server applications\n\nExperience with Git and version control\n\nBasic knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.\n\nFamiliarity with Linux and command-line tools\n\nBasic knowledge of Docker\n\nExperience writing automated tests\n\nFamiliarity with asynchronous programming or message brokers\n\nExperience with robotics, embedded systems, industrial automation, or hardware-related projects\n\nPersonal or university projects demonstrating practical software development skills\n\nWHAT WE OFFER\n\nAt DHR Engineering, we build software that directly interacts with real machines, robots, and manufacturing processes.
