Some projects will be brought to this position and others will be created by this position. They will need to be proven in product concept, design, testing, and approval for production.\nThey will collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams on ways to improve the product for ease of assembly, cost saving exercises, and product enhancements. Work closely with suppliers both foreign and domestic to support an expanding product line.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nIncludes the following:\nBasic understanding of HVAC systems and 12V electrical systems.\nComprehension of the ECO process and following changes through the system and overseeing the first production run to complete the process.\nUnderstands the concepts of Design for Manufacturing and the ability to implement this in all projects being conducted.\nStrong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of general manufacturing practices including plastic fabrication processes.\nAbility to work with SolidWorks CAD software.\nStrong communication about project status and maintain project progress in Microsoft Project, while following our product development process (AKA Toll Gate Process).\nAbility to understand UL, CSA, CE, other safety requirements, and how those impact the product.\nAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneously with various interruptions.\nAbility to work alone or with little direction to perform the required task(s) at hand.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment.\nIdentifying top warranty issues, create and implement a plan to reduce the warranty cost.\nCollaborates with project staff to create a strategic action plan and cost estimates of materials, time, labor, and other resources required to complete the project.\nAnalyzes equipment, systems, processes, and systems to identify modifications to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.\nAssist customer service as needed with product line related issues.\nSome travel may be required.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned to support the organization.\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE\nBachelor’s degree in plastics engineering preferred, other engineering disciplines may be considered.\n1 --3 years related experience.\nCOMPUTER SKILLS\nProficient in Microsoft Office Suite.\nProficient computer skills and ability to learn required systems that are utilized to be successful in this position; such as SolidWorks CAD software.\nLANGUAGE SKILLS\nAbility to write reports and business correspondence.\nAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions.\nExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, multitasking abilities, and the ability to communicate written and orally.\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS\nAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions and percentages, and the aptitude for detailed investigation of results.\nREASONING ABILITIES\nAbility to identify and describe practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
