Based in South Africa, you'll partner closely with leaders, technicians and field teams to build a strong safety culture, improve operational performance and drive lasting behavioral change. Joining us at an exciting stage of our EHS journey, you'll help establish new standards, build programmes, implement meaningful improvements and make a measurable impact across South Africa, Morocco and Algeria.\nLocation: Olivedale, South Africa\nTravel: Approximately 30% travel within South Africa, with occasional international travel to Morocco, Algeria and the wider APMEA region\nYour Responsibilities\nDeveloping and executing the Africa EHS strategy aligned with corporate and APMEA priorities\nLeading EHS programs across South Africa's field service operations, repair centre and office locations\nConducting workplace inspections, field observations and audits to identify risks and improve safe working practices\nDriving road and fleet safety initiatives to reduce motor vehicle incidents and strengthen safe driving behaviours\nPerforming risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses and corrective action tracking\nSupporting compliance with South African EHS legislation while coordinating local expertise for Morocco and Algeria\nDelivering engaging training, safety campaigns, toolbox talks and leadership coaching to strengthen EHS culture\nPromoting employee participation, near-miss reporting and stop-work responsibility across the organisation\nCoordinating emergency preparedness activities, including fire, medical, security and business disruption scenarios\nPartnering with Corporate Security, HR, Facilities and Operations teams to manage personal security and travel risk programs\nMonitoring EHS performance indicators, analysing trends and implementing continuous improvement initiatives\nInfluencing leaders and employees at all levels to build shared ownership of health, safety and wellbeing Coordinate personal security arrangements for employees, field engineers and travellers, with primary focus on South Africa and proportionate support across Morocco and Algeria\nPartner with Corporate Security, HR, Facilities, Operations and external providers on journey planning, lone working, high-risk locations, emergency communication and incident response\nOverseeing management of fleet in SA, Coordinate with global fleet management team\nQualifications\nEssential\nBachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Management, Engineering or a related discipline\n\n7-10 years of progressive EHS experience within field service, engineering services, manufacturing or similarly distributed operational environment\n\nRecognised South African OHS qualification or professional registration\n\nNEBOSH, SAMTRAC or equivalent EHS certification\n\nStrong knowledge of South African health and safety legislation, risk assessment, incident investigation and compliance management\n\nExperience conducting workplace audits, inspections and field-based safety assessments\n\nDemonstrated success influencing behavioural change and improving safety culture across operational teams\n\nExperience developing and delivering EHS training and engagement programs for employees and leaders\n\nStrong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work independently across multiple locations and functions\n\nFluent English communication skills\n\nDesired\nISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 auditor qualification\n\nExperience supporting regional or multi-country operations within Africa\n\nExperience managing road safety or fleet safety programs\n\nFrench language skills\n\n#LI-Remote #LI-SS4\nAbout Us\nWhy should you join Diebold Nixdorf?\nBrightest minds + technology and innovation + business transformation\nThe people of Diebold Nixdorf are 23,000+ teammates of diverse talents and expertise in more than 130 countries, harnessing future technologies to deliver personalized, secure consumer experiences that connect people to commerce.
