digiLab is a formative AI company with world-leading specialists in uncertainty quantification, applied where the stakes are highest and the margin for error is smallest.

Our customers are among the largest and most advanced engineering and science-led organisations in the world, and they're using our technology to tackle some of society's biggest challenges. How do we make fusion energy a commercial reality? Can we drive down the cost of renewable energy and accelerate the transition to a sustainable future? How do we support coral reef restoration, or strengthen Britain's national security? These are just a few of the critical questions our technology is helping to answer.

At the heart of our work is the Uncertainty Engine, digiLab's trustworthy and explainable AI platform, enabling our customers to accelerate innovation, reduce risk, and deliver real value through more confident decisions.

We are looking for ambitious team members to help shape our pioneering technology and tackle some of the world's most impactful problems.

Summary:

The full-time (Senior) Product Designer role (Monday to Thursday) involves undertaking critical user research and design activities to deliver compelling, intuitive products and experiences at digiLab.

Working closely and cross-functionally with internal teams, the role spans user research, information architecture, product discovery and prototyping, interaction and UI design, product documentation and design systems.

As digiLab scales beyond its core product offering, this role will help us understand user needs, bring clarity and structure to complex problems, and explore and validate new products and functionality. Working closely with our Design Lead, you will help strengthen the consistency and rigour of our design practice while continuing to contribute directly to high-quality UI design.

The role:

As the (Senior) Product Designer at digiLab, you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with our Design Lead and Product Management to understand user and business needs and translate them into effective design solutions.
  • Conducting user research and usability testing, synthesising findings and using evidence to inform and validate product and design decisions.
  • Developing information architectures, user flows and content structures that make complex products, functionality and documentation clear and intuitive.
  • Helping shape new product offerings and functionality through discovery, rapid prototyping and validation, from early concepts through to detailed design.
  • Creating wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs, contributing directly to interaction and UI design.
  • Collaborating with Product, Engineering and other teams to ensure designs are feasible, coherent and translate effectively into production.
  • Contributing to our design system and shared design practices, helping establish greater consistency and rigour as digiLab grows, while adopting AI tools where appropriate to accelerate your work.

Duties may evolve, and you may be asked to take on other reasonable responsibilities within your competence to support our growth.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Industry experience in product design, UX design or a similar role, working on web-based products and services (not websites).
  • Strong user research skills, with experience selecting appropriate methods, conducting research and usability testing, and translating findings into product and design decisions.
  • Strong information architecture and interaction design skills, with experience making complex products, content and user journeys clear and intuitive.
  • Experience working across the product design lifecycle, from ambiguous early-stage problems and discovery through prototyping, validation, detailed design and implementation.
  • Strong UI design skills and proficiency with Figma, with the ability to produce polished interfaces as well as wireframes and prototypes.
  • Experience working with design systems and reusable patterns, with a strong appreciation for consistency across products and experiences.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and work effectively with product managers, designers and software engineers.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with technical or product documentation, content design, taxonomy or complex information structures.
  • Experience designing technical, scientific, data-intensive products or data visualisations.
  • Experience using product analytics and quantitative measures alongside qualitative UX research.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS and modern front-end technologies such as React or TypeScript.
  • Experience with accessibility, inclusive design or motion design.
